Loosely fitted Breton T-shirt or top French-tucked, and neon yellow sandals.

Slim-fitting cashmere in a bright/bold colour that suits you – don’t worry about clashing, go with a face-flattering colour – and ankle boots with zips.

I have a cropped, boxy, all-over-sequins T-shirt that would work well with it – so something sparkly.

But I’m a bold green leopard-print sort of person. You might want to dress it down more.

Thanks for all the tips but it arrived this am and it’s awful in me
makes me looks so rectangular
better in someone taller thinner and younger
although I did love the fabric and colour
I’d live a dress in that fabric but maybe wrap dress style above the knee ….

Why don't you try the M&S dress, it looks like it would be very flattering.

LovelyYellowLabrador · 10/05/2022 16:34

Thanks buster I think I will

Hijacking this thread as I too rarely wear skirts, although I'd love to, because I feel a tucked in top makes my tummy look huge, but a top that hangs out just looks shapeless/messy. Is there a solution?

lesgalettes · 23/05/2022 19:09

Wheresthe - how about you just tuck a little bit in the front and let the rest hang loose - it's very flattering that way.

I'd choose a plain taupe or greige fitted tee and some simple ballet flats in a toning shade. The gorgeous skirt needs and deserves to be the star of the show

Choose a top which ends at lower tummy level and is a fairly straight cut.

Thank you. Would that not just look shapeless?

AuntieMaggie · 24/05/2022 09:07

This lady is great for showing how to style things like patterned skirts

Ooh thank you @AuntieMaggie a belt seems to be her solution! Might give that a go!

oviraptor21 · 24/05/2022 17:17

Now to

oviraptor21 · 24/05/2022 17:19

Bah .... to me a belt would immediately highlight the exact area I want to mask.

I don't find the type of top I linked shapeless - but I'm slim with just the one problem area so it highlights that I'm slim and skates over the bumpy bit!

Wallabyone · 24/05/2022 17:33

I really like that skirt-is it Hush?
I wear midi and longer skirts a lot, and at this time of year, I'm wearing them with loose-ish T-shirts with the front tucked in and my new Nikes. You can wear a denim jacket if you're not comfortable with a biker.

DameHelena · 24/05/2022 17:38

Would be nice with pink, if there's a shade of pink you like to wear. I think it'd work with most, but maybe a blush sort of pink if that suits you?

Fireintheloft · 24/05/2022 17:38

Slim pale pink tee tucked in
