Which Philips Lumea to buy?

I have ADHD and ME and really struggle with shaving my legs in particular (also bikini line). I know that the Philips Lumea gets great reviews on Mumsnet and a lot of people find they don't have to shave again for a long time, sometimes forever. But having just logged on to their website, I'm overwhelmed by the choice. Which one do I need? I want to do legs and bikini mainly, underarm would be a nice extra but is not essential. I want the results to last and for it not to be a nightmare to use. Which one is best?

I recommend a corded model as opposed to the cordless one. The battery on the cordless isn't very reliable. I've got the basic corded model and it's really worked for me. I shave every 5 weeks now, used to do it every day

Thanks gottaloveascamhun - how much was the basic cordless model?

Sorry, I mean the corded model!

I also bought a basic corded one, I think mine was from Boots and was on offer. It was about £230. I've read on here about the cordless ones being a problem if you don't charge them often enough. Love mine

I have a very old cordless one and the battery life is actually pretty good.

Love mine.

If I replace it I'll probably get a corded one

I've got the cordless but the battery doesn't last on legs. I'd also replace with a slightly cheaper version when the time comes.
It's taken a year to get my legs smooth. It's paying for itself now.

I don't think the fancier models are worth it tbh. You just get more attachments but I wouldn't use them. Basic model does the job brilliantly. Think it's called lumea essential

Great advice, thank you! I'll get a basic one, with a cord if possible!

I’m just waiting to pounce on a bargain ….

ihatethecold · 07/05/2022 08:22

I’ve just bought a corded one from boots on offer.
mot was £270 and has a facial attachment also.
im too scared to try the face one 😳

because I take testosterone as part of my HRT medication my leg hair now grows so fast and spiky!
I can’t wait to stop the daily leg shaving.

MargosKaftan · 07/05/2022 09:07

Does it hurt? (About to have a shower and shave my legs after shaving them yesterday, hair grows so fast being able to leaving it weeks in between sounds fabulous !)

The corded works well for me, I’ve had mine a number of years. I start dusting it off this time of year. Has made such an enormous difference to my previously hairline legs that grew back hair within 24 hours. I now don’t own a razor, just borrow a blade from dh for maintenance now and again. It does take a lot of rounds (at least 8, then top ups) to get to this stage.

Hairy legs, not hairline legs 🙄
