How do you wash your Boden dresses?

Bit random! I have recently bought 5 new Boden dresses for work, I love them but am finding washing them a pain in the arse. According to the instructions they need to go on a delicate wash, which is fine except I am only washing one at a time which means putting on 5 extra washes per week in addition to the normal washing I do!

Am I missing a trick? Does anyone have any other methods/ideas? Will ot really damage them if I put them on a normal wash at 20/30 degrees?

I think they are all made out of the viscose material, so no wool or silk etc.

I would be very grateful for anybodies suggestions :)

I no longer buy viscose jersey from Boden because i shrank every dress - and I am a careful laundress

but if a delicate wash is working for you, why not put all five in together ?

MargosKaftan · 06/05/2022 14:35

I tend to throw them in a normal cool wash, unless doing a delicates wash. Throw them in together.

I have a few items that require a delicate wash. I just save them up and wash them together at the end of the week.

PradaOnaBudget · 06/05/2022 15:07

I wash them in the delicate wash together with other semi delicate things (basically anything that is not particularly dirty)

Most of my work wardrobe is Boden, at the end of each week I do a dark wool wash and a light wool wash with all the Boden stuff and any wool jumpers or kids' jumpers that look like they might shrink. It's never a full load. Why are you washing one at a time? Surely they are not such a range of colours that they have to be washed alone?!

RockaLock · 06/05/2022 15:30

I just stick things like that in one of those net bags (1 dress or top per bag) and then wash all together on a normal 30c wash.

Disclaimer: you might want to try it with one of your least favourite ones first, just in case.

Thank you for replying everybody.

I was washing them separately because the delicate wash doesn't spin them that much so they come out of the machine ridiculously heavy as they are so saturated in water. I have put two in together once but I thought if I put them all in it would be far too heavy for the machine. I'll give it a try through!

I ignore all washing instructions. Everything goes in at 40, all colours and whites together. It's quite liberating.

trilbydoll · 06/05/2022 19:19

Mine spins at 800 if that helps - they come out wet but not dripping everywhere.

MargosKaftan · 06/05/2022 19:42

If your delicate wash is a bit crap, just do a 30 degree wash. Mine have survived that.

Put them I mesh wash bags and then a high spin won’t be stretching them out. I put all delicates into wash bags and normal spin.

hedwigismyowl · 06/05/2022 20:52

I put delicate things in a washing net bag and put them in the washer in a normal 40 degree wash.

PinkTonic · 06/05/2022 21:30

I wash all my clothes on a 30 degree delicates wash and then I do an extra spin, even cashmere is fine like this. I just do darks and lights.

UglyModernWindows · 07/05/2022 15:00

I too was about to say use laundry net bags per dress. And use 800 spin, it won’t be dripping after that. I infact started to use 800 spin for almost all the washing as the default 1400 spin was too harsh on many clothing even if they were fine with 40-60 degree wash.

Use colour catcher sheets if the colours are of high contrast. Lighter colours will dull if you keep washing them with darks. You can use the colour catcher sheet few times.

BaaMoon · 07/05/2022 15:32

Get a laundry net bag and maybe add a tad more spin to the cycle?

HalleLouja · 07/05/2022 15:55

I have quite a few ponte Boden dresses which just go in the wash at 40 degrees and I have had them for years and they still look great.

BlackSticks · 08/05/2022 14:20

I think a mesh wash bag might be the solution! Thank you again everyone, I'm going to have a look for a couple online now.

Normally with dresses I have had in the past I have just washed them on a normal wash but I want to try and look after these ones as much as I can because I love them!
