Lip Filler Dissolving

Ihateboris · 06/05/2022 13:01

Hi

I had lip filler a few months ago and absolutely HATE IT. I only had 0.5ml done and really only wanted it for smokers lines. I was assured I would not be left with the trout pout, but that's exactly what it looks like. I am considering getting them dissolved. Has anyone done this and did it work, was there any bruising or swelling etc. I so so regret getting them done. 😭

I’m surprised it’s not gone down by now. What did they use?

Ihateboris · 06/05/2022 13:04

Juvederm

The filler appears to have migrated above my lip. I look horrendous

My practitioner won't use Juvederm for lips because it gathers water and the risk of migration.

0.5 is a tiny amount, and done months ago! I'm surprised it hasn't gone down also but now.

Dissolving should be fine (haven't heard of bruising with that). It sounds like a bad job originally, so might be better to go to another practitioner, unless you think your original person might dissolve for free.

I work in this industry and I advise you to find a medical practitioner to advise you before you try anything with an unlicensed provider such as a beautician.

Did you use a beautician to do this rather than a medical practitioner, OP? I don't think you said in your OP.

Ihateboris · 06/05/2022 15:23

I used a beautician. Lesson learnt

Hope you get it sorted. You might be able to get it redone properly if you haven't been put off.

ScatteredMama82 · 11/05/2022 00:37

Regulations are coming that will stop beauticians being allowed to do these treatments. Can’t come soon enough. I’m sorry you had a bad result. I advise you to contact the manufacturer directly, they will have a complaints handling team who can offer you medical advice.

krill · 11/05/2022 00:42

I'm afraid it won't stop them, but it might deter some. I think a licence was proposed.

ScatteredMama82 · 11/05/2022 01:04

It will be put on the manufacturers and wholesalers to ensure they are selling to licenced individuals. That doesn’t stop dodgy wholesalers then selling them onwards via other channels though.

FlissyPaps · 11/05/2022 03:20

I had my lip filler dissolved earlier this year. I had roughly 4ml built up over 4 years, they were really migrated and looked awful.

It was quite painful having them dissolved. They were swollen for a day and I had minimal bruising. But honestly nothing to worry about. It’s a quick procedure.

Id advise for you to go to an actual aesthetic nurse or someone from a medical background though, not a beautician who’s just completed a quick 3 day filler course.

Hope you get it sorted x

krill · 11/05/2022 10:54

I know of beauticians who do have a licence, this will therefore not impact on them. It will deter some, but not all. It's a start I suppose.

Hi all,

Thank you all for your replies. I went ahead and had the filler dissolved, but I'm now left with, what can only be described as very deep smokers lines (top and bottom), even though I have never smoked. Can anyone suggest a treatment for these lines? Thanks in advance

I had my lips done previously by two medical professionals and both times they fucked them up! I think with medical pros they can be abit ‘slap dash’ if that makes sense (obviously not all of them). I would look at someone’s work and how long they have been in the trade rather than if they have a medical background iyswim. My mum has been a nurse for over 40 years and has recently trained in aesthetics and is technically less experienced than my non medic friend who has been doing aesthetics for over 10 years and specialises in lip fillers. I think it very much comes down to the individual. Obviously these two scenarios don’t apply to everyone and no amount of research is fool proof. I had to get mine dissolved too and it was awful. Hope you have a better experience in future ! Xx

CherryRipe1 · 12/05/2022 19:43

I think you should see a professional registered person for advice on this but thinking for the lines: perhaps lasering, microneedling, some other kind of filler or Botox to relax the lines and lip pursing? These are just suggestions.

I’ve never had it, but Plasma Pro might be worth looking into. It’s a skin tightening procedure and minimises lines.

You’d be better off looking at aesthetic clinics in your area and booking a consultation for an aesthetic nurse to assess you and see what type of treatments would be suitable. Most consultations are free x

I love your username 😆. Yes, I'll do that. I'm reluctant to go down the filler route again as I looked bloody awful 😢

Have a look at consultant clinic on Instagram. They are bloody expensive, but their work is amazing. I need my lips dissolving as I have little pockets of filler which are bumpy on the inside of my lip. It looks okay from the outside but I’m aware if I get them done again it will probs migrate and look crap. I’m putting it off though!

IheartJKRowling · 12/05/2022 22:52

I would recommend microneedling. I have smokers lines above my lips (never smoked 🙄), I have had fillers but microneedling has helped the most and it doesn't give a trout pout.

Thanks for the suggestion. Did it hurt? How many sessions were needed and was there any downtime? Thanks in advance

I had smokers lines. I didn't want fillers actually in my lips for the same reasons.

I have fillers just above in the smokers lines and a small amount of Botox.

Massive improvement especially over time. I'm super pleased. Find a really good practice though, it's more expensive but really worth it, they will do a proper consultation first.

Where about a are you based? Many you can get a recommendation.

Hi... I'm close to Chester. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated.

@Ihateboris maybe someone will recommend a clinic near there for you,
I'm down south. I did a lot of research and found one that had got a lot of really good reviews and won awards for practice etc. I paid 50 pounds for the consultation which gets taken off your first treatment.

Don't go anywhere that doesn't do a proper consultation first.
