What type of teeth whitening would you recommend?!

I tried the type where the dentist made moulds of my teeth and I put bleach in them. I only did it once, because although I was really careful when putting the bleach into the moulds, it somehow got into my throat and made it burn. It was really unpleasant. A friend of mine also tried it and the same thing happened; she said she wouldn't do it again.

I don't know whether to give it another go, but don't know how I would avoid the same effect?!

Googling zoom teeth whitening, people say it's extremely painful, and made their teeth ultra sensitive.

I wouldn't want to use whitening strips, as they are apparently abrasive and bad for teeth. Also, someone I know uses them and they are making her teeth translucent, which doesn't look good.

Are there other types of teeth whitening?! So many people have whitened teeth - I wonder what they do?!

Thanks so much for any advice!

There's only one safe and successful way to whiten teeth and that's what you have tried. You don't need to put much in the moulds. Only put in a small amount for each tooth and only the part that touches the front surface of the tooth. You can't burn your throat if you are careful that you won't have leakage from the mould.

Pola day/night. You can buy the gel online. Works a treat, no sensitivity and no burning. As it's a gel it doesn't leave the moulds. You only need a tiny amount on each tooth.

I'm currently whitening with Philips Zoom, via the dentist. I was offered it half price as I had other treatments done, so far no sensitivities, I was told that it was likely and if so to use sensitive toothpaste and it should go. I think the key is to use a very tiny amount and do it over 2-3 weeks. The hardest part is cutting out coffee 😕

What strength Zoom do you use out of interest?

I use the trays and Philips Zoom. The day one as was I struggled to sleep with them in at night.

You need less than you think in each mould - then it shouldn’t overspill, I wipe any overspill very quickly so it doesn’t go down my throat.

Mine is 9.5%.

I drink coffee through a straw whilst I am doing the top ups!

Thank you very much for the replies.
@Scandiscandic292 Which website do you buy it from, please? I imagine it’s important to but it from a trusted website, to make sure it’s genuine! Thank you!

Having googled Philips zoom teeth whitening, I am now confused. I thought zoom teeth whitening involved an ultra violet light being shone on the teeth, by a dentist. (My dentist mentioned this, though their practice doesn’t do it.) It seems Philips zoom is actually gel in trays to use at home.

Is there a difference between the Philips zoom gel and tray method and other gel and tray methods available from the dentist?! (I now don’t remember the brand name of the one I got, but it wasn’t Philips.)

Mine is the day one, it's 6% hydrogen peroxide. There is a night one which is 16% Carbamide Peroxide, I'm not sure what the difference is. The day one is only allowed on for up to 2 hours, and night one, obviously overnight, but I do wonder if it's a less severe peroxide. I didn't fancy ingesting it overnight so I went for the day version.

There is a treatment at the dentist also called ‘zoom lightening’ which is a very intense version with the UV light. I found it very painful. My teeth felt awful and super sensitive afterwards. I would not have that again. I prefer the trays because if you have any sensitivity you can just back off and not use for a few days
