Foundation needed for very dry skin

All of a sudden my foundations that I have don't seem to be working for me. I have very dry skin and eczema and very uneven skintone as a result of damage from a lifetime of eczema.

I am 42 and looking very haggard! Really want something to make me look young and dewy, but does need to have good coverage to even out my skintone.

I have been using No7 Hydraluminous, which I loved, but it oxidises on me now and despite trying a couple of other shades none of them seem to sit right on me. I have tried L'oreal true match and that just sat on my skin emphasising my pores and I couldn't blend it in well. I have tried 2 of the primark foundations that get recommended on here, but they just clung to my dry patches.

I am happy to get a more expensive foundation if it works rather than keep buying cheaper foundations which I only use a handful of times before giving up on.

Skincare wise, I have to use prescription creams for my face, they do help keep the eczema under control, but even with the heavy duty emollients I have I still get dry patches on my chin and round my mouth.

Any suggestions will be grateful welcomed.

I think it’s really tricky if you’ve got dry patches.

I have Melasma which has now cleared up pretty much so I’m less self conscious about my skin. I’m using Tretinoin which causes pretty bad dryness and flakiness tonight. If it’s really dry then I don’t set the foundation with powder otherwise foundation goes super patchy.

at the moment I’m using Il Makiage which is quite sheer but you can build it up.

could you look for a foundation for mature skin (even if you’re a young’un)?

I also think less is more,so I literally just use a sunscreen (they’re all fairly moisturising) and then the foundation. I’ve never got on with primer really.

I think I definatly have mature skin! I think that is just because I have always had such dry skin. Even as a teenager my skin was incredibly dry and tight.

I do see Il Makiage products get mentioned on here, they aren't a brand I am familiar with. I shall look into their foundation. Do you find it blends easily?

I've just ordered Estee Lauder futurist hydrating something or another as I had a voucher, I usually use Double Wear. I'll let you know how I get on when it arrives, reviews are good.

I have dry skin, and can get eczema. I find Clinique Even Better is a good all rounder. Its a soft natural finish. Not overly dewy but definitely NOT matte. I've also tried L'oreal true match and found it sits on my skin too. The beauty of Clinique is that they do a Glow version too which will give you that dewy alive look you're after. I've found the perfect colour match too. We'll worth the money imo. It's just a nice easy going foundation that doesn't require lots of blending nor powering after.
