Face wash for a child?

TickTickTock · 28/04/2022 14:02

My 9 year old DD woke up with a white head spot this morning, near her mouth (bless her). I know it could be hormone related but also thinking could be because she doesn't wash her face daily (although she will tell me she has!). Is there a facewash out there which is mild enough for a child's skin? I'm thinking of buying her a nice facecloth and some moisturiser to get her into a skincare routine early. Any thoughts or advice please?

Thank you ☺️

Just check it's not the start of chicken pox - 9 seems quite young for a spot . I mistook a white head spot for a spot when it was the start of chicken pox - if it is don't pick it whatever you do or you'll be left with a mark

Scrubbingtons is lovely and mild. They also do deodorants for kids

My daughter was 10 when she started getting a lot of noticeable spots, I she uses the body shop tea tree oil face wash and a cloth . They don't really need moisturiser on such young skin as if their getting spots the skin is greasy.

Thank you! I did wonder if maybe she had been using too much lipbalm around her mouth which could have caused it due to greasiness

Definitely not chicken pox. Agree she's young for a spot.

CeraVe facial cleanser. I react to a lot of beauty products but this and Liz Earle are the ones that I don't react to. This is the cleanser my children used when they first started needing a bit more than water on their face. They are now teenagers.

Simple Micellar Gel wash

Reusable make up removal pads,I have a few of these and they just need water to cleanse. I was doubtful until I saw how much dirtier they were in Manchester than at home.

My Ds uses the cerave hydrating face wash linked above. He tends to get little whiteheads and pimples if his face has got a bit grubby and he hasn't washed it properly

I started a thread like this a couple of weeks ago and got jumped on for 4 pages about how I was in league with the beauty industry!! A few people did offer good advice though and I bought the cerave moisturiser. My DD has very dry skin and it does seem to help.

Was going to suggest this too. It even says on the packaging it's suitable children.

How strange! I use the same products I have for years so the whole range of things out there seems like a minefield to me, hence my quest for advice. Really grateful to everyone for responding. Have some ideas I can look into now. 🙂
