Is it possible to have nice legs by this weekend?

I’ve really neglected my legs for the last 2 years over the winter and they are extremely dry to the point that when I take my trousers off the insides have an attractive coating of dust.

I’m going to a party this weekend where the only dress that fits (I’ve neglected my weight too🙄) needs to be worn with no tights.
Is there a moisturiser/moisturising routine that will sort them by the weekend?

Sounds like you need to exfoliate and moisturiser them. Should be fine have fun!

TuxedoJunction · 26/04/2022 17:11

Try Aveeno body moisturising cream. It’s worth a go(!)

Imabouttoexplode · 26/04/2022 17:13

Dry body brushing, exfoliator, glycolic acid, body oil followed by moisturiser. Lots of exercise, squats etc. Fake tan and Vita Liberata body blur and you're good to go.

Same here… A couple of days of applying a really greasy intensive moisturiser (aveeno blue is excellent!) should see you right.
It has to be a good one though, as most generic "body lotions" are just useless.

Oooh, party sounds fun!

You need a good exfoliating session first. After a shower, when wet, slap loads of moisturiser on then apply a body oil on top. Sit on a towel and let it sink in. Reapply moisturiser throughout the day.

Moisturisers:
Palmers cocoa butter, Aveeno, Child's Farm, Superdrug vit E, any Bodyshop body butter, Boots own brand, honestly most things!

Oils:
Coconut oil, Almond oil, vit E oil, Johnson's or anything similar.

Off to Superdrug you go! Grin

If you're planning any hair removal, waxing also has the advantage of getting rid of dead skin!

I don’t have time to sort waxing sadly-I will definitely shave them and with a bit more care and attention than my usual dragging a razor along them in the shower. But will consider that for the next occasion!

Thanks for the tips-I wouldn’t have thought to exfoliate even though it seems obvious now!

I couldn't show my bare legs to save my life, varicose, spider veins, all colours! I wear closed toe sandals/shoes and a midi dress with very sheer knee popsocks (hate tights), or trousers and gorgeous top. Shorter dresses I use thigh high hold up stockings very sheer again. Never feels hot or sweaty as the "nether regions" lol are not encased!
Life is too short for all the polishing of legs I say!

Oddfood · 26/04/2022 17:46

My shoes are open toed. And I’ve just had the realisation that that also means sorting out toenails! Gawd. No one looks that closely at feet do they? 😬

Get thee to a walk in nail place and get your trotters sorted
Get gel polish on them and they will look soooo neat and tidy for WEEKS.

itsthesoundofthepolice · 26/04/2022 17:56

This was my legs a few weeks ago. If you have a bath a long soak before scrubbing your legs with exfoliating gloves (I highly recommend the soap and glory ones) before a rich moisturiser (Nivea repair and care is lovely and not greasy sinks in well)

Apply moisturiser morning and night and use the scrubby gloves in your daily shower they'll be sorted in a couple of days

Llamasally · 26/04/2022 17:58

Can you get an appointment for a body polish type treatment? I find these are a good kick start for a routine you can then maintain at home

Thunderface · 26/04/2022 18:00

I recently bought This Works Perfect Legs and I'm really please with it. It's very moisturising and has a light tint.

SweetNcrunchy · 26/04/2022 18:04

Nice bath and exfoliating gloves, (Poundland have them really cheap). Then thick moisturiser and some fake tan applied with a mit (even that cheap San Moritz stuff is OK tbh). If you've no time to get your feet sorted, at least paint your toe nails and get rid of dry heel skin. You can do that when you've soaked in the bath for a while with the same exfoliating mit. Moisturise your heels and toe nail cuticles after you've painted them and you'll be sorted.

Hurstlandshome · 26/04/2022 18:11

Just need a good scrub and a moisturiser. If you don't have an exfoliator gel you can use table salt and shower gel, and a flannel. Then if you have a nice body oil add that to wet skin - or your usual moisturiser will be fine.
To ward this off in future use E45 bath emollient - it leaves skin feeling beautiful.

CoconutAmericano · 27/04/2022 10:57

My absolute holy grail leg exfoliater/moisturiser is The Sanctuary salt scrub you use in the shower. Leaves my legs so buffed and moisturised and smells divine too. I always use it before getting fake tan done too so it applies evenly.

BitOutOfPractice · 27/04/2022 11:01

@Oddfood you are ME! What is it about leg skin that gets so dry? Only thing I can think is the air blower thingies in the car?

ThisDove body scrub smells delicious and works really well without being too harsh

Watchkeys · 27/04/2022 11:06

Olive oil with caster sugar in it. Best exfoliator and moisturiser known to humankind. Good scrub with that, leave it on for a bit to soak in, wash off, you'll be amazed. Try it on your hands first, for a tester to see if you like it. It's lovely.

I second the oils, but I go the other way round. Oil on damp skin after showering to lock in moisture, then moisturiser on top of that.

WoodenClock · 27/04/2022 12:37

Once you've sorted the dryness, as above, Sally Hansen legs is a wonder. Like make up for the legs or spray on tights.

Oddfood · 28/04/2022 23:08

progress update:
we live quite rurally and I’ve I’ve been working too late to get to any shops for specialist supplies but have gone with the olive oil and sugar on a rough flannel followed by more olive oil and some random l’occitane moisturiser I found in the bathroom and that seems to have helped! I will repeat tomorrow and see if I can get some spray on fake tan.

I’ve also cut my knee shaving 😂

I found a pack of those foot peel things but think it’s too late for them so will save that for next time.
