Find my perfect night cream?

I'm 50, very dry skin, plenty of texture, roughness, sagging on neck etc. Probable sun damage but no actual brown bits.

I've got a few heavy moisturisers suitable for night use but I'm finding that I don't get on with a heavy or oily formula. So I'm looking for gold dust: a very nourishing, moisturising cream that feels really comfortable and soft upon application.

Willing to pay for luxe if need be, but high street v welcome too.

You don't need a fancy night cream. It sounds like you need a moisturising serum and I found simple rich was really good, but I couldn't find it this time so bought a l'oreal one. It's too early to tell if it's any better

Dr Jackson's. Sorry I can't link on the App.

I would agree that you probably need a serum and a good night cream.

I have had to concede that my Clarins double serum really is the single most important part of my skin care regime. Takes a week or more to see results but it's very helpful.

I also have very dry skin so I also use a Neutrogena Hyaluronic Acid serum (cheap and cheerful) from this range. I also use their night cream (it's more of a gel than a cream).

For brightness during the day, vitamin C is the business. On the cheaper end, the Inkey List vitamin C serum is good. I've been using the Murad vitamin c serum. It's insanely expensive but you can get a smaller one for (still expensive but) less to test it.

I am also going to be checking out Sali Hughes new Revolution range when it launches later this week. In particular, I'm keen to try the moisturiser and the acid exfoliator but you might want to try the serum.

Oh, and the reason I suggested the acid exfoliator is it can really help to smooth your skin and I suspect that the Sali Hughes one will be good, at a decent price. I haven't used one for a while - used to use the clarins one - but might try this one out myself. I'm only hesitant because I tend to waste them as I use them at best once every week or so and then have to throw them away after they've been open for 2 years and still not finished!

Thanks so much for the recommendations! Has anyone tried the Caudalie Reservatrol one? It gets great reviews.

Got my eye all over the Sali Hughes stuff too, I'll wait for MN to try it all first though 😊

My daily serum is the Curel milk stuff, I love how fresh it feels. Want a bit 'more' for night I think.

I'm definitely getting the moisturiser asap as I happen to be at the end of my current moisturiser and now that I've found an SPF I like (Boots, Vit C) I'm finally willing to start looking at moisturisers without an SPF. And it's not too expensive. And might try to the chemical exfoliator - hopefully as it's not too expensive I won't mind if I don't use it all!

I'm 70 and my night cream is Aldi's caviar one in the metallic blue box - £7 I think. It goes on richly but sinks right in so no grease. I don't use a serum as my skin is temperamental if I overload it.

Seconding the Aldi Caviar night cream.

VaddaABeetch · 27/04/2022 19:53

50s too & thirding the Aldi one

Ponks · 27/04/2022 21:56

50s and seemingly one of the people who didn't get on with the Aldi caviar night cream, didn't find it at all moisturising.
Have you ever tried Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum? That's lovely. Then a simple moisturiser like No7 or Aldi Rejuvelate .
