Both DDs have knotty hair but 12 yr old's is a nightmare. She has a silk pillowcase and we detangle but wondering about hair oil too. Any recommendations at all or other suggestions please? It's so thick like mine, such a pain! Thanks. It's harder as she wants to do it herself but does not touch the tangles an just surface brushes. It was easier when younger! Thanks.

My DD has hair that always tangles. We're now using a leave in conditioner (Cantu). It's made a massive difference and it tangles so much less now.

I would find a spray conditioner and give it a squirt every morning. If it’s very curly you shouldn’t brush it. A good brush before washing is all it needs and I would guess once a week would be plenty.

Is her hair curly/wavy?

This might sound weird, but if my long hair ever gets badly knotted I sometimes use my horse’s mane and tail detangler on it! It’s so much better than any human one I’ve tried.

Olaplex number 6

Cupcakegirl13 · 24/04/2022 21:58

Moroccan oil is what I sue on my dd’s hair when it’s wet and brush through with a tangle teezer

L'Oréal Mythic oil us amazing, it totally sinks into hair makes it easier to brush and dry.
You can buy it from amazon

Extraordinary oil is pretty good. I use the olaplex one too and it’s lightweight and doesn’t leave you hair greasy BUT I need quite a bit as have quite thick hair so not great value for money. The other olaplex leave in is good for thick hair and lasts ages.

OP, your dd could try using a leave in conditioner and plaiting her hair at night.

Try a hair bonnet. You can get them on Etsy and even marks and Spencer's sell one now.

She could try a wide tooth comb when the hair is wet. My DDs only brush their hair after a shower when it's wet. Never when it's dry.

Try L'Oréal wonder water conditioner and a de-tangle comb.

OGX Coconut Miracle Oil is very good.
