I use Mac but I'm not really convinced by it.

What foundations are good, thank you! 🌷

Depends. I'm loving it cosmetics your skin but better. It's a mrs coverage but my skin is good enough. Very impressed, it really does make my skin look lovely! It kind of melts into the skin so it looks better after an hour or so. Then I use Chanel cheek balm as blush. No powder or concealer

clinique. and (regardless of what might tell you)use a decent foundation brush. I can see a noticeable difference(imperfections)but provides even skin tone .

Autumnwater · 24/04/2022 14:52

NARS tinted moisturiser, Not a foundation as such but gives a Nice coverage and less noticeable on your skin. Honestly it’s been such a game changer for me and I have practically ditched the foundation

(Sorry to quote, I can't post anything unless it's attached to a quote!) I also like clinique, I use their Even Better foundation and I also have the Glow version. I'm 42 with normal to dry skin.

No7 for everyday at work - it's ok as my skin perfectly matches one of their colours and Estée Lauder for the rest of the time. The Estée Lauder lasts me all day with no touching up needed.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/04/2022 16:08

Estée Lauder DW, I'm about to try the sheerer version but I doubt I'll like it more, stays put all day, fab stuff!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/04/2022 16:09

I'm 51, I have no business on this thread😂

Bostonten · 24/04/2022 16:11

Lancome and their primer underneath

Nyx is also very good for a lower budget one

WaveParticleDuality · 24/04/2022 16:52

I use Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood flawless filter, then in summer ByTerry CC serum and Chantecaille Future Skin on top, just a bit of each. It gives a really nice even sheer coverage and glow. Not drying or powdery. I think slightly older skin benefits from a lighter and more moisturising formulation. Any heavy makeup tends to look flat and sit in any lines.

I'm 49 for reference.

I also have the Lancome teint idol and teint miracle. Both are great but the Clinique matches my skin perfectly and is so easy to use.

I'm 52 and I used to use chanel and laura mercier and sure they were lovely but now I use something called vichy dermablend, really high coverage and I mix it with number 7 glow drops. Works out much cheaper, good coverage, bit of a glow finish.

I think I just like mixing products.

QueenofLouisiana · 24/04/2022 22:04

I use Beauty Pie, also the tinted sunscreen for lower coverage in summer.

I’m 45 with rosacea.

OxanaVorontsova · 24/04/2022 22:05

Estée Lauder futurist hydra rescue, light but buildable, high spf, hydrating

paisley256 · 24/04/2022 22:13

Bobbi brown the intensive serum foundation in black bottle is gorgeous and dewy.
I'm also another fan of the estee lauder futurist hydro foundation.

Sleepeatrepeat · 24/04/2022 22:14

Over 50 here and utterly clues about makeup but the very lovely and patient girl on boots spent ages helping me the other week. I went with NARS light reflecting foundation and setting powder...utter game changer.

Honestly my best advice would be go and chat to the make up ladies at boots they are fab

paisley256 · 24/04/2022 22:14

Oh and I'm 47

Sleepeatrepeat · 24/04/2022 22:14

Aging myself too.. over 40

@mnhq Can we please have an edited button

Quitelikeacatslife · 24/04/2022 22:16

I'm 49 so you are spring chicken, but I love Estee Lauder futurist hydra rescue

EatSleepReplete · 24/04/2022 22:17

I have oliy combination, sensitive dehydrated skin. I use Lancome Teint Idole. Mainly because it's one of the few that comes in a shade pale enough for me, but it's great. I apply it over serum, moisturiser, SPF50, & then I just use a tiny amount, about as bit as a lentil for my whole face. Dab it on with my fingertips all over, then blend in with fingers. Very sheer & natural finish. It's not the cheapest but it lasts ages because I barely use any.

EatSleepReplete · 24/04/2022 22:18

I'm 41 BTW.

We do need that edit button...

Username2101 · 24/04/2022 22:29

I've been using Fenty, I'm 39 and it gives such a lovely coverage.

Mamabananananana · 24/04/2022 22:36

Oh Christ , no! Leave that full coverage crap to the kids OP !
You need medium / buildable now. Diffusing.
Most heavy mats will just exaggerate any lines.
try : no7 protect and perfect serum foundation with spf50 £18. Lovely finish just dab powder where you dont want it dewy. Its a good dupe for..
:YSL touche eclat foundation. Bought this since my mid 30s as it doesnt sit in lines and is builable natural finish. But TBH, i problem wont replace it ( at £37) as the no7 one is so good.

agree with PP if you cant give up the mat- Fenty foundation is really lovely and a more natural finish And more reasonable price at £27 than some luxe brands.
i use the Fenty on a night out

EatSleepReplete · 24/04/2022 23:00

I read online that foundation brushes harbour bacteria (unless you wash them very thoroughly & frequently, which obviously shortens their lifespan), & absolutely drink up your foundation which increases the cost per use. And if you're using a liquid foundation it's more difficult to get a very sheer coverage with a brush. I tried using with & without & the amount of foundation I use is significantly less when i just apply with my fingers, & I get a much better finish because it's much more sheer. I don't like heavy coverage.

supadupapupascupa · 25/04/2022 12:18

The brush I use is from body shop and has dense bristles and then a few longer ones. It does an airbrush effect which is gorgeous. Will try to find a link

supadupapupascupa · 25/04/2022 12:24

They are called stippling brushes, AMAZING can't find the body shop one but this will give you an idea.....
