A dress for a christening

Hi, it’s my baby’s christening in June and I’d love to look glamorous.
I have dark brown hair, blue eyes, very pale. I’m about 5ft 5, a size ten but I had a section this year and have a mommy pouch with slight section overhang.
Im planning on getting some shapewear to make me look smoother!
I would love something bright pink, royal blue, emerald green - those are my fave colours. I will be having my shoulder length hair curled and wearing heels!
can anyone suggest where to look? I’ve seen a dress I like on DSLB and a few on want that trend.
thanks!

Do you have a link to the dress you have seen that you like so we can have some idea of what you are looking for?

Sorry thought I’d posted it!

You can hire dresses from LK Bennett - they always have appropriate dresses for christenings.

What's your budget? My DD's christening is in May (very delayed from last year). I'm wearing this with a cropped cream jacket - www.joules.com/Women/Clothing/Navy-Floral-Ditsy/Yasmine/Button-Through-V-Neck-Dress?id=217947|NVFLDTSY but it also comes in a pink version. It has a belt and is looser on the bottom so i felt like it hid my whole tummy area really well. Going to dress it up with heels and jewellery etc.

The dress you have linked to is lovely.... .....apart from the neckline which is totally unsuitable for church! I'm laughing at the "slight plunge" in the description, it's actually open to the waistline revealing a lot of cleavage. If you can find some safety pins to keep it closed then you'll be fine.

CraftyGin · 20/04/2022 15:08

It looks like a dressing gown!

ChristmasAtHogwarts · 20/04/2022 15:29

I definitely would use safety pins if I wore that one!!
I feel like it would be quite flattering on a post baby body? But an open to more suggestions! Budget of maybe £60/70 tops.

It looks like a beach dress or something thrown over a black shift for a casino visit abroad. Would you really wear that in a church? The pattern is lovely though.

I love the dress you've posted OP.

Just use some safety pins to alter it to your liking, but I've seen way more flesh on show at the christenings I've attended.

Definitely looks like a dressing gown.

What about this?

www.neverfullydressed.co.uk has dresses similar-ish to the one you like but they are around the £90 mark
