I really want a pair. There are so many styles though. What should I avoid.
I just want normal ones with yellow stitching not Chelsea boots in black.

Can't beat 1460s. Just be prepared to break them in.

Pascal are lovely soft leather and come in lots of colours if you can't face breaking them in- mine were comfy from the day they arrived and I didn't need to wear them in

Saladd0dger · 18/04/2022 23:30

I bought some 1460s in October. Took a few weeks to break in but now they are the comfiest ever

nearlyspringyay · 18/04/2022 23:35

Pascal. LOVE mine and no breaking in at all.

But they don't last. I love them too but the soles do wear down.
Tr1skel1on · 18/04/2022 23:42

I know you said no Chelsea boots in black, but I've had a pair for ages. Sheepskin lined,.best.shoes I've ever bought

KimikosNightmare · 19/04/2022 09:37

@nearlyspringyay

Pascal. LOVE mine and no breaking in at all.
I gave mine away because they were so uncomfortable.
Mabelface · 19/04/2022 09:40

Thurstons are soft and lightweight.

Iheartmysmart · 19/04/2022 09:43

I’ve got loads of pairs of DMs but have recently bought some Solovair boots. They are a whole different level of comfort and quality. It’s reflected in the price though!

fecklessfanny · 19/04/2022 13:12

Try solivair Instead-comfy and are the original Docs. So made in the Uk, last forever too

Smoothsoul · 19/04/2022 13:15

I have the pascal ones too and love them, I’ve never had to wear them in at all.
I’ve just ordered the Devon heart ankle boots as I wanted the plate down sole. Got my normal size as reviews said they were quite small made and I find my size too big in docs - I always saoze down. However the Devin hear knew I find way big. I’m waiting on the smaller size coming. Hurry up posty!

Buyitinbamboo · 19/04/2022 13:44

I'm still breaking in my 1460s I got in December! They are lovely but I have the chelsea style too and those were fine after about 10days. The 1460s come up higher on my leg and rub on it

TDCtomorrow · 19/04/2022 16:02

Are the soles different on the pascal then. It looks like the boot it slightly higher on the leg but I can't see a difference in the sole

otherusername · 19/04/2022 16:10

I just got the 1460s with the Bex sole (thicker than standard but not as chunky as the quad sole like on the Sinclair). They're going to need some breaking in but I managed to wear them and walk a fair bit with silicone heel protectors and socks over tights.

Lennybenny · 19/04/2022 16:18

Just out of interest...how do you break them in? I have a pair but only wore them once because of blisters but love doc martens!

marsdon · 19/04/2022 16:23

I have a pair I've worn them Twice because they hurt so much my toes have a feeling of numbness been told to wear them for 10mins at a time
The shoe mender said he could stretch them for me anyone done this to them? Or used the stretch spray ?

TDCtomorrow · 20/04/2022 10:34

Just ordered them. Surf dome £120. Bargain.
I've got some nice river island dr Martin looking boots but want real ones
Heavenly feet do lovely ones too which are super comfy and they have funky colours

Blister plasters on your heels before you even develop blisters, some doc socks (they’ve two layers in them so they rub against each other rather than your skin) and also tights under the doc socks, for another layer of stuff to absorb the friction. Also, tie them quite firmly rather than loose and sloppy, as they’re more likely to stay in place on your foot when you walk, rather than slipping about and creating more friction.

Instead of very small and expensive blister plasters from a chemist you can also buy Duoderm hydrocolloid dressings, about £7 for a box of five, they’re much bigger so cover your whole heel, and offer more protection as you never know where the pressure points are going to be once the heels start to crease a bit on the boots. Put the dressings on the heels, hold your hand nice and tightly over the whole heel and dressing to get it warm and it will adhere better, then put some socks over the top to help them mould on better, and keep them on till they drop off/peel off easily.

DrNo007 · 22/04/2022 19:12

I have pascal and they are super comfortable. I didn’t need to wear them in.

crazeekat · 22/04/2022 19:20

Did anyone see the tv programme Inside the factory with Greg Wallace, they had the DM factory and followed how a pair of DM boots were made! Was fascinating but what a production each pair go thru!

Wow that's awesome thanks.

I've got a boot fetish I think
Got 2 pairs of UGGs that I don't like wearing in case they get ruined. I look like a scruff in old boots all the time.
