Messy midriff

I'm a kibbe dramatic body type, so basically straight column, no waist, and mostly need straight line clothes and tailored style not to look a mess, so usually a shirt and short straight skirt or trousers with a sweater. However the weather's hot and I've had to take the sweater off.....

I'm not skinny, and because I don't have hips or a waist I just look a horrendous mess in the middle. Shirt untucked, waistband slipping, I can't seem to anchor anything to stay in place so I look permanently untidy and I'm finding the short straight skirts that look great with a sweater look awful and bulky if you can see me underneath!

Other than lose 3 stone (I'm working on it,) anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Bodysuits? Don't tuck in, wear slightly shorter tops that end just beneath the waist so they don't tuck or bunch?

Thank you that's a good suggestion! I've been trying belts today but that doesn't seem to help much, I do think I need loose things that go down past the waist as you say.

I have a similar problem- and although I'm short, I am long bodied, so it's hard to get long enough tops! I wear tank tops a lot when it's starting to get warm, over a long or short sleeved shirt, shift dresses, and in the summer tend to go for sleeveless tops so my upper half isn't so "blocky", if that makes sense?

I have a waist but still find skirts have more tendency to ride up than shorts or trousers particularly 'heavy' ones eg denim. Stretchy ones seem to stay put a bit better.

Thank you, really helpful. I'm long bodied too! I think hip length things instead of trying for a defined waist is probably the way to go, and closer fitting skirts. Looking, I definitely look less 'chunky' in a close fitting skirt, and an A line on me is ridiculously unflattering.

Was watching Eileen Atkins last night in Doc Martin, she's a dramatic, and does a lot of above the knee skirts with straight, draped tops without ever defining at the waist.
