I say OPI and no 17 and Rimmel are better. So there.

brimfull · 09/01/2008 13:04

soup-have you tried it.

Looked amazing on the tv,but too good to be true.

Birdly · 09/01/2008 13:43

What you need is a Newtons Chiropody Sponge!

Despite the name, it's not at all spongy and it's great for horny hooves. Just wet it in the shower, bung some soap on it and get scrubbing. Follow it up with some heavy duty cream (agree Flexitol is top notch) and Bob's your uncle.

It comes in a sort of mini plastic cassette case and costs just under £3 iirc. My local chemist recommended it to me when I was looking nervously at the cheese graters. They had it shelved with the 'medical' foot stuff rather than the 'vanity' foot stuff, if that makes sense. More old lady than hip young chick!

bourjois nailpolishes come in lovely colours - have a dark purply one and a few reddish pink ones. lovely.

Here you go...

Lots of other online places sell them too, but I got mine from my little local chemist. Tis fab!

SoupDragon · 11/01/2008 12:06

I have indeed tried it ggirl. It was impossible to put on (unless you have a handy therapist to put it on you feet whilst you relax on a couch) and it burnt the soft skin where it overspilled the hard crusty parts of my foot

It did "melt away" some of the hard skin but TBH, I don't think it performed very well at all. No better than a cheese grater and some heel balm and not a very long lasting effect.

Ms Manicure nail file, coarse grade, fantastic for hard nails on the toes, shapes and shortens them quickly, and much better than trying to cut them with nail scissors or clippers.

The Boots Gorgeous Feet range has a foot cream that is as good as flexitol IMO.

Love Essie nail varnish, best range of colours.

Aveda 'Foot Relief' foot cream is lush - £15.50, deeply moisturing, smells gorgeous (the 'Hand Relief' is good too...boom boom! No seriously, their hand cream is called 'Hand Relief'. Weird.)

Cod, loving the idea of making an agreed foot care regime compulsory for newcomers. I have always found the idea of talking online to people with crusty feet offensive

MrsJohnCusack · 15/01/2008 09:37

oh I need this
feet are looking grim in the summer sunshine

um, am I allowed to recommend a Lush product even though I work for them? here goes.....

Running for the embassy foot scrub. Greenish, minty bar of cocoa butter and pumice. good to scrub with as you can put a lot of pressure on the block. I think its about £4.50.

FWIW I tried a different scrub the other day, Scholl, and it wasn't as good. So I don't just use Lush stuff.

cod, I dreamt you had a beauty column in the Guardian the other day! I clearly spend too much time on MN.

I always sport a rather lovely silver toe ring bought on honeymoon. Think that makes up for the strange crusty bit I have on my ankle.

Birdly - I have that 'sponge' thing and agree is fab (if you remember to use it...)

got mine in Boots, in the Hideous Feet section

I use Body Shop Peppermint Footcream, only because I like the smell and have used it for about 20 years

nailpolish · 15/01/2008 11:44

ggirl - I linked to that qvc foot demo once - did it involve wrapping feet in cling film and then practical taking the whole of the sole of her foot off! I'll search - was gross but fascinating and satisfying to watch [weirdo emoticon]

Oliveoil · 15/01/2008 11:47

Mine is:

fill old washing up bowl with HOT water, put in some bubbles or foot soak in

sit with feet in water for 10 mins whilst dh chortles at the madness of women

take feet out, dry

use cuticle remover, then use 'sponge' thing to remove hard skin

feet back in water, more laughter

take feet out, dry

slather in cream, put on socks

in summer I put nail varnish on, in the depths of winter I cry and don't bother
