Makeup suggestions for red flushed cheeks

Hi,
I have slight rosacea but nothing major but my biggest problem is that I get very red flushed cheeks. The main reason being anxiety/embarrassment in social situations. It also happens in situations where I get hot/cold for example walking my son to nursery if it’s cold outside I turn up and once I have stopped walking I can feel my cheeks are burning up and the more I think about it then gets worse.
So basically I’m after any advice on makeup products to help disguise this. I’m not usually one to wear makeup every day but it’s starting to get to me now so would like to feel a bit more confident. I hear green based primers are good and a full coverage foundation. Any suggestions? I’d say my skin is normal
Thanks

Hi, afraid no direct experience of this but my friend had this challenge years ago and found that green primers did help her with toning it down and made her feel more relaxed about it overall.
Not sure whether you use foundation? Dependent on coverage you use this may also help?

If you don't like heavy foundation and want something buildable I'd recommend no7 super light foundation or for fuller coverage then no 7 stay perfect pretty good and reasonably priced

I absolutely love this:

Deal of the day: L'Oreal C'est Magic Cc Cream Anti-Redness www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07QZ8JRB8/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_dl_14FZ0FTKNZBR99BRZYDS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Only started using it recently after, I think, a recommendation on here. It's so much better than the green creams I remember from my teen years! It's quite light coverage but I wear it under usual foundation and powder.

I use Clinique anti redness solution which is a liquid foundation, covers my red cheeks perfectly!

Thank you for the replies. I have ordered the L’Oréal cc cream. With the Clinique anti redness solution, I’ve read reviews saying it’s a very small bottle and doesn’t last long, how have you found this?

I’ve been using that Clinique foundation for a couple of years and it’s fab!
Lasts a couple of months and I wear it every day, you only need a tiny bit.
I also use a colour correcting primer underneath, usually Rosalique but sometimes Kalme.
Erborian Red Correct is also really good but a little beige on me as I’m more yellow toned.

Following as although my cheeks are ok, I get terrible red blotches on my neck in socially stressful situations and also from cold to hot like you. I end up wearing scarves a lot to hide it but that won’t work in summer!

Harvey19 · 14/04/2022 07:15

Thanks for your reply I will definitely give it a go. I have quite fair skin but might try 02 calming fair as summers coming. Which colour do you go for?

Sorry to hear your suffering to. It’s making me put off going to social situations because I feel I’m going to get hot flush cheeks, so I’m bringing it on myself really. Decided that maybe if I can cover it up with makeup that I’ll eventually get over it and won’t be such a fear anymore!

I’ve ordered the L’Oréal one - will report back!

I use Ivory, I got shade matched in the chemist near me who stock it.

Ivyonafence · 14/04/2022 08:21

I tried the Clinique green primer for redness and I don't recommend it. Really claggy and hard to put on, doesn't feel good on skin and I don't think it worked that well.

Prefer a good concealer now. I use tarte

Milliemoo1908 · 14/04/2022 09:35

Harvey19 - the Clinique works well for me (I appreciate its trial and error finding the right one!) and lasts me 2-3 months as you only need a small amount, I usually pop dots over the required area then use a make up brush to even out x
