Tear trough fillers

I'm thinking of having this done - has anyone had any experience?

What was the recovery like? Did you bruise / was it obvious you'd had something done? And we're you happy with the results?

I don't have terrible eye bags but I'm starting to get a bit of hollowing under my eyes and I think it would make me look a lot better to get them filled up a bit! (I'm a novice at all this though)

My sister has had it done and it has made her under eyes crepey.

billingsuran · 12/04/2022 12:31

I've thought about having this done, though it's a couple of tiny under eye lines on the side I sleep so I might not be suitable, and no hollows.

I think it's difficult one to get right, and that's reflected in the price, so you'd have to find someone good. I've either seen not much difference at all or the opposite to the hollows- puffy bags. I think they prefer to do cheek fillers first, as apparently that helps.

Wagsandclaws · 12/04/2022 13:24

I have it done every 18 months or so.

I'm 50 and it's made a huge difference to my under eye bags, it literally fills them and they look less blue and saggy.

I've attached a before and after pic, I had Botox on the same day so please excuse my dodgy forehead but I can highly recommend.

Please, please make sure you go to a save face registered practitioner- they are usually medical staff such as drs, nurses or dentists so have an extensive knowledge of your face.

That's a huge improvement! Think maybe it works best on bags rather than hollowing?

billingsuran · 12/04/2022 14:50

Id thought it was only for hollowing or lines.

That is an improvement, though there were bags and hollows there before.

Wagsandclaws · 12/04/2022 16:12

I think it addresses both. I had hollows and bags and they are pretty much gone now.

The second pic is without any makeup so once that's on it's a pretty good result!

treetops46 · 12/04/2022 17:54

Wow @Wagsandclaws what a difference - you look amazing!

OP posts:
billingsuran · 12/04/2022 18:01

It is amazing! I think that's the same poster who's had lower face lift and cheek fillers. Not for everyone of course, but if it works.

LiliesareWhite · 12/04/2022 18:12

You have to be extremely careful who does this @treetops46

It's delicate area and one wrong move can blind you if they hit a vein near the eye or get filler in the wrong place.

I have had it done twice and got 50% improvement, done by a dr. I had no downtime but it cost me over £800 a time and I'd not keep having it done simply because there is always a risk so near the eyes even with very expert practitioners.

Wagsandclaws · 12/04/2022 18:17

It really is! I think it's a procedure well worth doing if you can Smile

Wagsandclaws · 12/04/2022 18:23

@billingsuran that's me 🤣

I lost 6 stone, everything went badly south as it would when you lose that much weight in your late 40's.

I've had a neck and lower face lift ( had a very bad saggy neck ) cheek fillers, nose to mouth fillers, tear trough fillers and Botox.

Compared to 10 years ago it's all a huge improvement! I've added these before and after pics as if there are any posters considering anything like I've had done in really happy to vouch for them or advise Smile

I'm so much happier and more confident and I never thought that would happen to me.

It's a massive improvement that's why I remembered! You look a little bit like Sofia actress from the Bridge I think.

Deux · 12/04/2022 18:56

@Wagsandclaws I love your results, you look terrific. Did you have your fillers done by a doctor? I’m considering fillers and Botox and had a consultation with my dentist who also does facial aesthetics. Do you have a view on dentists doing this kind of work? I figure they spend all their time studying and dealing with faces but not sure if I should go to a surgeon/cosmetic doctor.

Wagsandclaws · 12/04/2022 19:17

So I would use a dentist due to the fact that they spend a long time studying faces to become dentists!

That being said I have also heard from various sources that some, due to the fact that it's a sideline don't actually do a particularly good job.

My own aesthetics practitioner is actually a GP. That being said I know that he keeps up with all the latest techniques and procedures ( I follow his Instagram page and I see all of the conventions that he goes to ) I would also make sure that I see plenty of before and afters of the things that I wanted doing.

I used a few nurses before I found my practitioner and I wasn't that happy with their work.

When I was researching my neck and face surgery I knew that I wanted a surgeon that would do my work under a local. There aren't many in the U.K. that will do a neck and lower facelift under a local so it was quite difficult to find hom.

He does about 5 of these particular procedures a week along with other operations such as tummy tucks and breast augmentations that do require a general - there were lots of photos of his work online and he is an accredited plastic surgeon that answers questions on the 'real self' website ) this is a starting place for a lot of people who are considering surgery ).

I think the main thing is to make sure that they are a member of 'save face' and that you have examples of their work that you have looked at and are happy with. It's your face after all!

Do make sure that you research what you want and what they are able to deliver.

Good luck, it's not for everyone but it's one of the best things in conjunction with losing a lot of weight that I have ever done for myself.

@billingsuran wow thank you, that's a really kind thing to say - I've never seen it but I've just googled her and I'd be happy to beat a passing resemblance Wink

treetops46 · 12/04/2022 20:58

@Wagsandclaws you look absolutely imcredible!!!

Thanks for all the fab advice, I'd certainly be liking to go somewhere very well qualified - there's a place on Harley street that I've been eyeing up (I'm based in London)

I'm nervous about the idea of the crepey skin though as I know my eyes are not THAT bad at the moment

If you are in London, look up The Cosmetic Skin Clinic in Wimpole st. They are the best.

Dr Mountford is no longer taking new clients and previous ones are on a 6 month waiting list.

Dr Christou is marvellous. She's a combined dr and dentist.

They are not cheap. You will spend something like £1K for tear troughs depending how much filler is needed.

Wagsandclaws · 12/04/2022 21:12

I've been using Obagi Elastiderm eye cream for over a year now and I'm convinced it's made a huge difference.

Obviously with the surgery and tweakments it's hard to say exactly but I also use dermatica retinol and take it up under my eyes every night ( I had to build up to that) and then the Obagi afterwards and it's amazing it really is.

Have a look at the before and afters of your chosen practitioner and make sure they are a member of save face, I'm sure they will be if they are on Harley st Grin

Tbf I pay Wiltshire prices for the most part but my surgery was a lot as he isn't the cheapest. Good luck Op!

inmyslippers · 12/04/2022 21:14

I love tear trough fillers! Such a game changer. First time I bruised badly. Second time just small amount of swelling

treetops46 · 12/04/2022 21:14

Oh thank you @Wagsandclaws I'll look that up!

I've been using Dermatica for a month or so, looking forward to seeing the benefit of that too!
