Wardrobe overhaul

I've got a new job and need a total wardrobe overhaul.

I'm a sweaty Betty leggings/hoodie/trainers type usually as I wfh and exercise most days. This new job will be in the office a few days per week and I'll be quite senior so would like to look the part. I'm after simple, well-tailored, smart casual clothes.

I'm an hourglass and find anything oversize/flowy/loose just makes me look like a sack of spuds.

Any recommendations for nicely tailored clothes please? Everything from basic shirts to casual trousers/jeans needed.

Thanks in advance!

I'd start with a very small capsule wardrobe until you get settled in and gauge what others wear.
Given you're a leggings person, maybe trousers first and a selection of tops that you can then build from. But personally I think dresses are easier to just throw on and go if you aren't use to dressing for the office everyday. I find on MN people love or hate blazers, but I find them a quick option to smarten up a basic outfit for work, so I'd look for one too in a neutral colour.

Me&Em are good for smart casual, expensive but have a sale on at the moment but a lot of it is wintery. Their wide leg trousers are good
Baujken is another place I'd look - again a sale at the moment and some tailored options baukjen
And thirdly - maybe Iris and Ink - they also do nice simple tailored dresses if you want to go that way
Other places I'd look M&S (surprisingly good this year), Everlane for basics, Mango and possibly some of Boden especially if there's a good sale going on.

Thanks so much! I've a few dresses I like to wear for work, LK Bennet, couple of m&s ones. Dresses this season seem to be oversize or at least have no defined waist, will check out the dresses on the site you've mentioned! Thanks

Head to Pinterest - easy to go down a rabbit hole, but also a good starting point to work out what you actually like and don't like

Think of the good brands eg Hobbs, John Lewis, LK Bennett, Baujken then look them up on vinted or depop. I got some great work dresses for so much less money. I agree that dresses are easier than tops and trousers

I seem to have a very similar work/lifestyle/wardrobe to you.

For office days I have 4 pairs of Boden Richmond trousers in different colours, which I wear with shirts/long sleeved Ts/jumpers depending on what the day holds.
