How to counteract sleeping persistently on one side

There's a visible difference between the two sides of my face and how they are aging/appear. I think that it is because I persistently sleep on one side. The muscle tension is different as is the area around my eyes. I wouldn't put it all down to wrinkles or a bag under that eye as such, it's about tone of muscle and skin. I am in my mid-forties, have generally good skin, only wear mascara most days. I am going to try face yoga and a silk pillow case-can you recommend anything else? Before anyone says mini stroke/Bells Palsy, last year I had suspected BP on the good side and it bounced back better than before (weird). This has been a slow slide rather than rapid. And yes, I suspect most people wouldn't notice! Trying to stop it now.

I was waking up noticeably creased on one side (for years) but it would fade gradually throughout the morning - until it stopped fading. A silk pillowcase and awareness of how squashed up my face was on the pillow has made a huge difference to me over the last few years.

You can't help turning onto your side once asleep, so to counteract that I went to a local industrial estate foam cutter/supplier and got a small, shallow memory foam wedge cut (in fact they gave it to me free from an offcut). I put it in a silk pillowcase and when I went to sleep, I'd sort of tuck it gently under the side I tended to roll onto, and this stopped it completely.

Lots of hydration, a good skincare routine and now not sleeping only on one side all night means I'm now 'ageing' symmetrically again.

Similar to you @myrtlehuckingfuge I wake up with a lower marionette line on one side, and face creases. They disappear within an hour or so, but I'm guessing there will come a time when they do not. I don't think this is something going down the filler route, in future, would help? As wouldn't it look uneven? No idea.

I already use a silk pillowcase (for hair), and I've tried sleeping on my back, unsuccessfully. I also use a Foreo Bear, though not religiously. I'm going to look into op's idea of the shaped pillow. Also place marking...

I read that side sleeping was better for heart health so i've switched sides

ArabeI · 08/04/2022 17:09

@whoatealltheeggs The right side isn't it?

Thank you all, plenty there to be going on with. I really appreciate your help and suggestions. I thought I wouldn't be alone in this. It's my left side that's taking the hit!
