Any experienced with or work in bra fitting?

I want a padded, lifting bra.. I have found some nice ones BUT they look great when I first put them on, fab cleavage and look great, nice fit, but then after a short while my boobs seem to move around and then I end up with gaps at the top of the cup?? If I go in and scoop my boobs and ‘put them back’ it’s ok… but that isn’t feasible. Any advice on what to do? I have checked bra size is correct so it isn’t that?

Before someone more expert comes along, have you tried measuring yourself with this method?
www.booborbust.com/

Many people are wearing a band size that is 4-5" too large and a cup size that is too small.

Brawoe1 · 07/04/2022 19:43

@BigFatBloomers yes I have done that and size wise I have the correct one? It’s just the padded push up type bras

That's good.

I'm afraid everything else is beyond my area of knowledge Smile

Hopefully someone else will be able to help

Shorten the shoulder straps slightly

Selma22 · 08/04/2022 01:02

I used to fit bras ...most women vastly overestimate their back size which affect the fit of the cup.If you life your hand up or lean forwards does the wire in between your boobs (or underneath ) still sits snugly against your rib cage?

Brawoe1 · 08/04/2022 08:19

@Selma22 standing straight the wire between cups is against the skin yes also when I lean forward. I wear a 32, I have tried a 30 and can’t breath, it’s so tight it hurts

Try a smaller cup size, try adjusting the straps.

FunnyTalks · 08/04/2022 09:18

I think it could be to do with the shape of your boobs and the style of bra. Someone linked to an extraordinarily detailed site a while ago which explained much more than just size. I'm so sorry that I can't remember the name but hoping someone else will? Essentially the style of bra that will work for you is down to things like the width of the breast root, whether they are fuller at the bottom or top, how they are spaced etc.

thesnaleandthewhail · 08/04/2022 09:23

You just need a different style of bra. Not all boobs fit all types of bra. A Bra That Fits talks a lot about boob shapes, maybe have a look at their website or insta or just do trial and error

Then adjust the straps.Sadly even if the size is correct bearing in mind that boobs are essentially wiggly fat then some styles just don't provide enough support to stay looking nice when we move...some gape ,some create double boob etc.Play around with the adjustments and see how you go.Otherwise id suggest perhaps trying a different style as bodies are all different and you might find something that fits you better.

Thanks for posting that link! I used their method years ago and it was life changing, I’ve since lost a lot of weight and need to re measure but couldn’t find the guidance!
Brawoe1 · 08/04/2022 14:58

@Selma22 the straps won’t help as it is around the rib cage that hurts, it’s too tight so loosening the straps don’t make a difference?

I want boost bras for lower cut tops, they are all pretty much the same style…. I hear that about shapes of boobs, I’ll try to have a Google. It’s so annoying as they look so good when I try them on and my cleavage is amazing! But it doesn’t last!

Padded moulded balcony bra should work, try to find one where the padding at the bottom is part of the moulding, rather than a separate insert, so it doesnt slip around.

To be honest perhaps going in and trying on different bras with tops you have in mind might help. For example longline bras do wonders for my body shape. The best on the highstreet measuring is in Bravissimo (regardless of size ).So if you have a chance pop in.

Brawoe1 · 08/04/2022 16:33

@Selma22 the trouble with that is the bras will look fine in the shop and I end up wasting money as I can’t walk around the shop in it for half an hour Smile

I had a brilliant online virtual bra fitting with Curvy Kate, you’ll find them on Instagram- honestly best bra fitting I’ve ever had!

She took me down a band size and up two cup sizes and it’s a revelation 😁

You’re under no obligation to buy, so it’s worth a go!

DSGR · 09/04/2022 06:46

I go to Rigby and Peller and the bras are perfect. It’s expensive but changed my life! Could you go to them for free fitting and maybe just splash out on one bra?

Brawoe1 · 10/04/2022 09:27

I don’t mind spending money on decent bras at all. The problem is, a shop is not the best place for me to buy, as I said they look great in the shop, fit is fine etc but once I get them home and wear a bra for say half an hour my boobs are all, out of place and I have to scoop them in properly. I think it is a cup issue

NoToLandfill · 10/04/2022 09:49

Rigby & Peller sales ladies will be aware of that happening. They have quite literally seen it all before.
