Hello! After your foundation recommendations lovely Mumsnetters please. I'm 45 and menopausal. Skin is normal with some dry patches and fair with rosy /cool undertones. Price range up to £45 at a push. Any help gratefully received! Thank you Smile

Should also add that I like a natural fairly sheer finish. Nothing too mat or cakey !

I would suggest Double Wear Light Smile

I've just started using the ordinary serum foundation.
I love it.
It's not heavy and leaves my skin dewy and it's £38 cheaper than my last foundation

Imabouttoexplode · 07/04/2022 11:16

No 7 hydraluminous.

Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful skin. I’m 37 so lots of fine lines and dull/dry skin and this is really lovely. Coverage is buildable and it’s really glowy.

Hippolyte · 07/04/2022 11:19

Thanks all, probably need to get some samples !

YSL Touché Éclat foundation. Bloody love it

Nars Sheer Glow. Lovely stuff

Nametoname · 07/04/2022 11:49

As an Armani Luminous Silk long time user and based on recommendations on here, I went to Boots to buy Nars Sheer Glow. They didn’t have it and I bought their new foundation which is simply called Light Reflecting Foundation. I am thrilled with it, it gives a lovely coverage, not too sheer but in no way heavy, just buildable, texture and finish are fab. Really recommend trying it to see whether it suits. Think it was around £37 or so.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 07/04/2022 12:18

Sheer Glow is a bit marmitey. I love it but it's not glowy. It is however medium coverage, which is great if you have decent skin to start with.

Hydraluminous is a bit more dewy and glowy although they've changed the formulation and I haven't tried it since they have so I might be talking out of my arse with regards to that these days.

Charlotte Tilbury flawless filter - I mix this with virtually any foundation and it works to make my dry/ combination skin look amazing.

Beautifullymixed · 07/04/2022 14:44

I have recently purchased Charlotte Tilbury beautiful skin and Loreal Hyaluronic tinted serum foundation.
Both are very natural, quite moisturising and don't cake up.
I think I prefer the Loreal one better, as it's not so glowy as the CT one and seems to cover blemishes better.
I apply both with a damp real techniques sponge for a natural look.

Ester Lauder double wear for me...I am now 50 and menopausal with slight skin changes and it works really well...also use the concealer, moisturiser and mascara...try to stay with one brand if possible x

Dior Backstage

@biancafeown

I would suggest Double Wear Light Smile
It's been discontinued for a while now.

Do you not find DW very full coverage and obvious looking on older skin? I found it started to age me so I went more sheer/light coverage and satin rather than matte. Lisa Eldridge, Chanel (the new one No. 1or something), Chanel velvet, rare beauty all look beautiful on aging skin.
WildCherryBlossom · 07/04/2022 19:15

I've been a Clinique foundation fan for years but recently got a sample of YSL touche eclat foundation and it's fantastic. I'm a convert! My skin is probably peri-menopausal (mid 40s), dry-ish with slight shadows under the eyes.

Thesheerrelief · 07/04/2022 20:37

Second Skin by Aimee Connolly - a great range of shades and you can choose between a dewy or matte (but not flat!) finish

Or Dcypher which I'm currently using. It's made to your own custom shade and finish. They send you out samples to approve or tweak until you're happy.

LightOfAThousandStars · 07/04/2022 21:52

I really like The Ordinary Serum foundation mentioned already and Fenty Eaze Drops is another good one

BusterGonad · 08/04/2022 07:51

Clinique even better glow or Lancome teint miracle. Both have a, slight shimmer that DOESN'T show up as sparkles. Just makes your skin look good and dewy.

BusterGonad · 08/04/2022 07:52

I'm also fair with a rosy tone. In Clinique I'm 62 Rose Beige in Lancome I'm 005 Ivory Beige.

Ostryga · 08/04/2022 08:00

No7 Hydraluminous. I have strayed plenty and always gone back. It’s the best foundation. And £15 so if you don’t like it you don’t lose out a huge amount.
