Can anyone recommend one for use at night?

My skin is dry to the point of being flaky/scaly and I just want something super intense.

Thanks!

I'm not a massive fan of high street skin care, I use Medik 8 as I have really dry skin too. However, I really like the face oil by Sanctuary. I use that when my face feels overly dry. It smells nice too.

Another good one is the L'occitane remedy (small yellow tin) which is even more moisturising.

Are you absolutely certain that you need oil? That will just sit on top of the problem. Personally I’d be using a good, multi-molecular weight Hyaluronic serum on a damp face, (Hada Labo (Superdrug) is great - get the retinol one if you can as it will help very gently exfoliate the dry skin.) then follow up with an occlusive cream (sandwich method) with ceramides. (Curel Intensive Moisturiser, which I think you can buy from Boots - or even better, get on YesStyle, Stylevana or Olive Young and get some Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate. It is even better, and comes in a ginormous tube, so you can use it on your body too. Downside is that it takes a few weeks to arrive. I am a huge fan of this cream. I’m using it myself and so is my son who has eczema and is using Roaccutane to nuke his acne.) Actually, Curel have also released a ceramide mist for the UK market and I think you would benefit from adding that to your arsenal, too. A spritz of that throughout the day whenever you felt tight or dry, or uncomfortable would keep you hydrated and it’s a gorgeous product.

I use this, it's really great

I use Typology carrot seed oil at night quite often. I'd say it's good for dry skin, but I now put a moisturiser over the top, something like Cerave PM, or whatever you use. I've been considering trying Fushi carrot oil to see if it's similar as I have to buy the Typology from France.

Rosehip (Inkey list) is good so far, though they advise to put moisturiser under the oil rather than over. I'm not sure if there's a more correct way.

Clarins Orchid oil is lovely, as is Elizabeth Arden’s 8 hour oil.

I agree that a serum would be better or use it first. I have very thirsty and dry skin (except for oily t zone). I use a watery serum first, then an oil, then a moisturiser. If I don't put a watery serum on first and oil, I sometimes feel that with a heavy cream it feels like my skin will split. Of course it wont, but I need the 'slip' of a serum.

I have very dry skin, and I mix three drops of Myrhh oil into ten drops of Jojoba oil in the palm of my hand and then apply all over my face and neck, then I put my moisturiser over the top of it. I have also always had better success with applying oil before my moisturiser.

It works wonders and I wake up with soft, glowing skin. I buy pure organic oils from the local health food shop, but I've bought on Amazon in the past and been pleased too, just check product info carefully as there is some real rubbish out there.

I do the same in the morning, but add in three drops of rosehip oil too. I wouldn't want to be without an oil in my routine, it makes such a difference.

If you wanted a shop bought oil, Aldi do a great dupe of Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate, its in the same colour blue bottle and called Overnight Repair Concentrate. Revolution Beauty also do a dupe called Night Restore Oil which you can usually get in Superdrug. All three are fantastic, and smell amazing.

As an aside, if you did want to add something before the oil, Squalane is brilliant, The Ordinary do a pure squalane which is cheap and effective, and is derived from olives. I sometimes apply squalane before my oil and it really boosts it.
