Plastic-free make-up. Is there such a thing?

I very rarely wear make-up, and since moving much more towards low-waste, plastic free in as many areas of life as possible, I'm finding it hard to justify having any.

I wear it so rarely that I am pretty sure everything I have is several years old, which I know isn't great in terms of being okay to put on my face. But I don't want to buy any new stuff knowing that I'll use it a bit and eventually chuck the unfinished item in its tiny plastic pot/tube away.

These days I only really wear mascara and very occasionally a bit of lipstick. Is it even possible to get those without any plastic packaging? I suppose lip pencils are a thing, but I'm not sure at all about mascara.

I used to occasionally paint my nails as well but I would never get through it all before it dried up and then end up chucking it - can' t even put the glass bottles in the recycling because you can't clean it out! I guess getting my nails done at a salon is the answer to this.

Does anyone know of any ways to occasionally wear make-up without that meaning lots of half-used plastic pots?

(By the way, if anyone's looking for plastic-free skin care with a commitment to a circular model - empties are returned to them for re-use - I can recommend the Beauty Kitchen. I use a few of their plankton range and my skin looks so much better than it did, which is probably also a reason for the diminishing makeup use!)

There are simple tutorials on YouTube to make basic make-up like lip and cheek stain, and mascara.

These guys minimise plastic and have eco packaging options but aren't completely plastic free www.greenerbeauty.com/product-category/plastic-free/make-up-plastic-free/eye-makeup/

Good selection of links for more sustainable packaging brands here
