This style - is it realistic?

It's kind of wispy, fairycore, a bit unusual but not excessive. I really love natural fabrics and my colouring really suits these types of colours, so if we can forget how expensive these are, do you think it's possible to make it work for everyday life?

I'm middle aged and a bit fairy looking tbh Grin a bit delicate/thin, so I know stuff like this suits me (in theory), I look like an imposter wearing trendy stuff or jeans/top, etc. I also wfh so don't have to wear any kind of sensible uniform.

Would you tread further in and maybe try some stuff out? Or would I look like a crinkled dust rag in reality? Do you know anyone who wears this type of stuff ? And if so how would you adapt this for winter months?

Am providing a link to a brand that has similar stuff and a piccy of a top I like. I also, god help me, have grown a liking for these linen dungarees and wonder if I'd just look like a depression era orphan in them.

It wouldn’t be my kind of thing but if you like it, that’s all that matters?

ConfusedParticle · 04/04/2022 15:50

would be nice when it's humid Grin, wafty and free!

I couldn’t wear any of these as it sounds like I’m the complete opposite of you, however if I looked like you describe yourself I could totally buy into this look.
Do you think part of the look involves not ironing? If it does then that would help with one of the practicalities.

ConfusedParticle · 04/04/2022 16:48

Ahhh i have just finished ironing! I don't mind it unless complicated, so no crisp white oxford shirts for me!

I think this look needs evening out with some good tailoring, like maybe a well fitted linen vest or some decently shaped trousers, etc.

I do like a bit of a rustic layered look but not the gudrun sjoden (sp?) type stuff.
I'm more wafty fae in midsommer murders, the one who resides in a dusty turret, collects tortoiseshell cats and lives off her parents Grin

Tbh I don’t really understand your question - they’re just clothes! What do you mean by do you think it's possible to make it work for everyday life? Surely only you can answer that through trial and error?

(I’m trusting that you’re not actually asking for permission to wear clothes you like?)

It does all feel a touch too fey for me. I’m rather attracted to the Cawley Studio aesthetic but only the silk dresses are in strong enough colours. They certainly have quite wonderful winter items - take a look.

CompassPoint · 04/04/2022 17:11

I have no idea what fairycore is, but those dungarees look excellent and comfy, they'd be great with a good straw hat for summer.
I'm not keen on the top personally, and I have no idea how you'd adapt the look for winter, but if you like it why not? Etsy has a lot of this style of stuff too, and usually quite a bit cheaper.

NorthernTights · 04/04/2022 17:13

I think you could definitely do this look for any season. Nice and floaty for the summer, pop some thermals on and waft on through winter. Charity shops may be your friend for more unusual styles.

Have you tried Noa Noa? It is just your thing I think. I’m too fat these days to pull off fairy anything, unfortunately; but in my more sylphlike days I went through a phase like this - used to call it my “nineteenth century Danish peasant look” 🤣 But sounds like you might very much like that Carl Larsson-y aesthetic.

The blog thenordroom.com does a feed of the equivalent style in interiors and architecture - check it out 😍

Obelisk · 04/04/2022 17:22

Lovely- I would love to dress like this but on me it would look rather Mavis Cruet. I don't think it's that out there as a style at all- I see lots of people dressed like this- I think often with DMs or similar.

tigerbird · 04/04/2022 17:27

@Obelisk — haha y y here too to Mavis Cruet! 🤣

When my DD was younger I got her the DVD of Willo the Wisp just so I could rewatch it. There certainly are a lot of “fat fairy” jokes that wouldn’t pass the sensitivity readers these days Grin

ENoeuf · 04/04/2022 17:31

It looks like 90s Monsoons stuff. Loads of people wear it, usually art teachers..

beatrixpotterspencil · 04/04/2022 17:31

How is it Mavis, i see no pink!!!!????

Moonface123 · 04/04/2022 19:48

Etsy or Jo Browns do similar styles and alot cheaper.

HothouseFlower · 05/04/2022 10:27

It is a lovely style and I would give it a go myself if I didn't have arms like a wrestler.

Ewa i Walla is an expensive brand but, as PP have said, you could look at Noa Noa (especially the older stuff) and other less pricey brands to recreate the look.

If you use Instagram then take a look at einselisabeth - she dresses in this style all the time including winter and you could get some inspiration from her.

Screamy · 05/04/2022 19:01

What about this brand

bonfireheart · 05/04/2022 23:25

The link from @Screamy is better, so much more colour!
