I am similar except my hair is fine. I have curls when washed which drop out soon after into a web or mass of frizz. My hair is also healthy and well treated, so it's simply nature, high porosity, and either a lock of or too much moisture.
A few ideas:
Can you work out the porosity of your hair?
You can test the porosity by placing a strand into a glass of water at room temperature. If the hair sinks it is high porosity. If it floats, it is low porosity (as far as I know!).
Also, it can help to work out whether our hair needs either more protein or more moisture.
Is your hair soft to feel, and do the strands stretch quite a bit when pulled before breaking?
High porosity hair absorbs and loses moisture constantly, it dries quickly and often tends to fuzz.
Low porosity hair can take a good while to dry.
If you can figure out your porosity there are many tips online for how to treat it. For instance, my highly porous hair doesn't like oils or serums, they are too heavy. I am happier with leave in creams and conditioners.
That said, most products aimed at women are just all variations of the same thing, and a complete rip off.
I would try treating my hair to a good conditioner or mask, or olaplex if it suits you, and sleep with it in either a french braid or regular plaits to encourage even waves.
