Chin fillers to balance overbite!?

After many years of thinking it was just an unfortunate family trait of a chubby double chin and lack of jawline, my dentist recently told me i have a severe overbite -so no amount of weightloss/facial exercises are going to help me! Sad
Im just after being tagged in some photos at the weekend, and my jawline is unreal ! I didnt realise it was so bad!!!
Has anyone had chin/jaw fillers to balance their face out?
Ive never considered any cosmetic surgery/fillers before-but i feel I actually look disfigured!!

Don't do that.

You'll end up looking like Robbie Rotten if it goes wrong.

Wouldn’t orthodontic work be the standard way to correct an overbite?

Mamamamamia · 31/03/2022 16:22

@IceVolcanoes im too old and have lost a lot of teeth Sad I don't think braces would be useful

Hi

I know someone who had jaw surgery as a teenager but a) that’s quite drastic and b) not sure if that’s what you had in mind.

I would get it done. I had braces to correct my bite and my facecsits more symmetrically now.

What's the name of the procedure so you can google it?

Mamamamamia · 31/03/2022 17:00

@Ambition9to5 its just filler into the chin and jaw.
I just wanted to see if anyone had it done and could tell me if it was worth it

I think you're talking about on overjet not an overbite. Overjet is the horizontal distance between the upper and lower incisors, overbite is the vertical overlap of the upper incisors over the lowers. It sounds like an overjet if you're lacking in chin support generally people with a large overjet look like they have no chin. Chin fillers may mask the small chin aspect but it's a lot of upkeep.

I have a friend who had a chin implant. It’s quite subtle and you wouldn’t necessarily guess what has changed unless you know her well, but it has improved her appearance.

I'm an orthodontist and these can work really well to camouflage your facial profile. Yes, they require upkeep but only every 9-12 months in the long run.

If you can find yourself a dentist who does this or someone with a really good eye for facial balance and proportions, I think you will really see the benefits of it
