Shopping for clothes

Hello I'm getting a bit fed up of shopping for clothes on the high st and leaving the store with nothing. I'm in my 40's and don't want cropped, garish or cheap material. I'm also more aware of fast fashion and feel uncomfortable buying from the usual suspects. Anyone got advise on mid price fashion for on trend but stylish, wearable clothes please. Smile

No advice but I feel the same. I m looking for a dress for a wedding , went to Oxford street and found absolutely nothing, even if price were no object , there was still nothing , well not nothing, but nothing I liked enough to buy.

I hate shopping, live very rurally, so do most of mine online.
I discovered www.joebrowns.co.uk last year and have bought some nice items. Mumsnet slates it a lot but I'm a fan. Lots of pure cotton (I detest polyester clothing) fits me nicely & reasonable prices, especially if you look at the Outlet section.
Asda/George have some reasonable every day basics.

I’ve recently found www.mintvelvet.co.uk . It’s a slightly higher price point but I’ve been pleased with the quality and find the styles to be current yet ‘grown up’. John Lewis also stock them and you can often find pieces on sale.

A couple of times over the last few months I've headed into town prepared to spend hundreds on some fabulous new clothes for myself.

Both times I came home empty handed. I tried, I really really tried. I wanted to spend money, I wanted new stuff. But I couldn't find anything at all. It was all boring, cheap-looking, emblem-emblazoned rubbish that looked straight out of a late-90s teenage magazine.

My friend shops at Anorak They have some nice stuff but all a little bit samey. I find myself living in sportswear these days which I can dress up or down to make it look more or less sportswear-ish. I really struggle to find normal clothes which I'm excited about.

Community Clothing - simple, timeless clothes, impeccable ethical credentials and an exemplary mark-up policy.

Goodhood - very cool, especially if you catch the sales.

Uniqlo - the collaborations in particular, but it’s up to you to check the fabric content and origin of every item …
