Does TV really add weight or are the IG photos edited?

Ok, so let me clarify this post is in no way a criticism of Holly W's weight. I cannot stress that enough.

Following along the lines of the skinny mirror thread, I'm curious as to what's going on in this clip & IG post (if anything - or is it my eyes just playing tricks on me).

I saw this pop up on my Apple News, saying everyone was going crazy for HW's dress on This Morning. I clicked on the story and watched the video. Didn't like the dress much on her in the video clip tbh. Then scrolled down and saw her IG post showing her in the dress. She looks very different and slimmer in the IG photo. I actually quite liked the dress when shown in the photo. But I can't figure out what's going on.

Could it be because the camera angle of the video makes her look wider on top with the puffy sleeves, and the appears the dress is shorter? It's creased in the video as well as she's been wearing it. But then in the IG shot she looks slimmer. Even her face does a bit I think. Why is this? The pose? The camera angle? A filter? Photo editing? Lighting? Or is it just my eyes playing tricks?

The video and IG photo are here so you know what I'm talking about apple.news/AppWtl7f9Qp6wBXWejMQI_Q

Angles and filters. All celebs do it

Angles and filters agreed

Danaemercer on Instagram shows you how Instagrammers fake being slimmer and shows reality versus what they do poses, adjusting clothing sucking in stomach, use of ring lights, filters to make body slimmer etc.

mewkins · 30/03/2022 10:25

I reckon a stylist has also pinned the sleeves back for the photo. The sleeves are the thing that make it look top heavy.

I love her account! Yes I know most celebs and influencers edit their images. I guess I just wasn't expecting it from her because it's a daily outfit snap she does and then goes and appears on tv where everyone can see her. For some reason I just assumed she was a little bit more 'real' and wasn't sure if she'd edit every image I guess

Of course it's edited. Everything is. There's a filter that stretches you out so you look taller and leaner - it looks like she's used that.

TV really genuinely does add weight. I've done This Morning with HW half a dozen times and every time I've been on with her I've been struck by how thin she is in real life. On telly she looks slim, in real life she looks genuinely skinny. She has has a mega rock of an eternity ring which always blows me away.

TV definitely adds weight. If you see TV people in real life they look tiny.

People like Keira Knightley must practically be invisible then!

HW?

tontown · 01/04/2022 22:00

I think photos generally make you look bigger than TV but they both add pounds. However angles do a lot.

Anyone on tv who is normal sized is tiny in real life. I saw Oti last year she is so narrow.
