I have my first real life shopping trip
In about three years - to Bath - coming up. To save me time (I only have a scant day) and hat top
Shop tips can locals give me? Any treasure troves aside from the usual suspects? I love Jigsaw for reference

I went to Bath a couple of weeks ago - I hadn't been for 2 years although I live nearby and used to live in the centre about 10 years ago. It is so depressing at the moment! As a PP says, closed shops (from small ones - pretty sure Shoon is gone - to the massive New Look which is such an eyesore boarded up) are everywhere. It's almost all places to eat and shops you get anywhere like M&S.

Bath used to be a haven for independents but sadly the rents and business rates have gone through the roof so it’s unviable for startups, until the council (they own most of the buildings I believe in New Bond St) lower the rents on the upper end of town it will remain empty. There are still some great independents hanging on, Boho, Maze, Porter, & it does have Whistles, Jigsaw, Anthropologie, Kooples, Ted Baker, Comptoir, Hobbs, Cos, Hilfiger, H&M, M&S, Crew, TkMaxx, Mulberry, Toast….

So not all bad but it would certainly benefit from a Zara, Massimo Dutti, John Lewis (please move into Debenhams) and to get back to the good old days, it needs more independents moving back in… the council should see this as a priority..
