Are Stan Smiths flat?

As in flat flat? I find dead flat shoes really uncomfortable but can't find some trainers suitable for dresses that aren't.

Thanks!

I'm in the same position! I believe they are 'flat flat'.

I'd like to find comfy summer trainers, ideally not white that go with midi dresses. Superga is not bad but there must be more.

CloseYourMouthLynn · 27/03/2022 14:26

They have a spongy base, they're really comfy, I wear mine all the time! Mine are filthy now they, they don't stay clean very long

CloseYourMouthLynn · 27/03/2022 14:29

These Nike canvas trainers are also really comfy and go with loads of stuff

Towelseverywhere · 27/03/2022 17:05

I had some and wore them a lot but I can’t say they were that comfy. V flat and I found the soles hard, not spongy at all and no arch
Support.
I wouldn’t buy again

Ratatoo · 27/03/2022 17:40

I don't find mine comfy at all

jowly · 27/03/2022 18:42

Thank you.. I shall rule them out.

@jowly I’m having similar issues. I need arch support.

1frenchfoodie · 27/03/2022 20:02

I have high arches and find them really comfortable for all day, definately not as flat as Converse or Chipie/similar ‘plimsole’ type shoes. But that said they are not as supportive as a sportier trainer. If you like the style an insole may be the answer - if you dont lace tightly one should fit ok.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 27/03/2022 20:16

I've got some Gazelles which have a some arch support, I'm finding them super comfy just wish they weren't suede as I'm terrified of ruining them :/

LightOfAThousandStars · 29/03/2022 00:10

They are flat but feel comfortable once broken in and fit my wide feet where a lot of other trainers don't

PAFMO · 29/03/2022 06:21

Very very flat. As are Gazelles. I had both and had to give them to DD as they just hurt.

babyjellyfish · 29/03/2022 07:54

I love Superga but I have pretty flat feet.

Have you thought about going half a size up and adding insoles?

SuperJune · 29/03/2022 09:21

Have you considered Veja running shoes? Generally I find running shoes quite ugly but don't really mind for just running. However I'm about to move abroad so I wanted some nice running shoes I could wear to run and travel and so I don't need to take many pairs of trainers - I wanted ones I could wear for a run and just out and about.

The veja ones fit the bill! Of course very supportive but also stylish. If you Google 'veja running shoes' you will find them Smile

Super flat and very wide. The worst combination for my feet. And I found the quality very poor, the leather scratches very easily

Wordlewobble · 29/03/2022 09:32

I am after similar comfy trainers (for walking around town and wearing for a meal out with a dress) with some arch support. I am 6ft tall and a size 8 and the few local shops I have to try anything on only go up to a size 7 so I would have to order online. I wondered about either of these from Fitflop, Strive or Air & Grace?

I have some in a charity shop bag ready to be donated. Not as flat as Converse but not comfortable. Poor arch support, stiff soles and plastic uppers

This.

Compared to converse they're like walking on air.

Thanks everyone. I went in to town earlier for a look, and there's a couple of styles in Clark's that are nice (didn't try them on, but Clark's are always a good bet for comfort).

Couldn't find any converse, Stan smiths or anything else much really, so probably need to go to a larger town for a proper look.

Thanks all for your suggestions
