Nice/fashionable clothes in decent fabrics for a size 16-18

I'm a tall, curvy size 16 - 18.

I'm struggling to find fashionable clothes which aren't made of shitty polyester which flatter my size.

I love the fabric and quality in places like Seasalt, but not keen on how it looks.

I like Cos and fabrics are ok, but it isn't flattering on my shape.

I don't have a huge budget which doesn't help!

Where do tall, bigger and curvier people shop please if they don't want tat?

Have you tried next? They now also sell for loads of other brands too - am average height, but they used to have a tall range. Got a lovely monsoon dress there a couple of years ago (size 22). Should be to filter by size and maybe height.

Thanks! I have the Next app on my phone, but always forget about it, so will look there

Have a look at LF Markey. It’s not cheap cheap, but not outrageously expensive either - and there are always the sales. At the moment about half the stock on their website goes up to an 18.

Roman are quite good but mainly for smart.

I'm actually quite liking M&S at the moment. I also like Fatface which gets a lot of MN hate but my skin tone suits muted colours and they tend to have nice cotton tops and trousers.

The boden sale just started and is worth a look - similar fabrics and quality to sea salt but it depends what it is you don’t like about the look of sea salt.

IndoorsyImogen · 27/03/2022 12:31

I think it's the dark colours and prints I'm not keen on in Seasalt. Although, like @LivingDeadGirlUK, I do seem to suit slightly muted colours. Haven't looked in Fatface, Boden or M&S for ages, but will have a look.

Thanks for the link as well @TottersBlankly. I'll have a look.

These might be worth a look. Some natural fabrics and a range of sizes.

I've had a look at Boden and I think there are lots of nice, useful things for work on there. Some really pretty dresses for Spring which I could wear at work, and a decent sale on; so thank you for that suggestion!

Thanks @mrssmiling. I'll check those out too. I've seen Poetry mentioned somewhere (possibly this board) and think it looked nice.

I've bought 3 work dresses from Boden, but still looking for casual stuff

I always forget about Poetry but their stuff is lovely.

WishIwasElsa · 27/03/2022 13:57

I got a book from poetry the other day randomly but the stuff in it is £££££'s

FridayiminlovewithRobertSmith · 27/03/2022 14:04

I really prefer natural fabrics too and have decided to embrace the kinds of clothes I like rather than waiting to be slimmer so here is a list of places I like:
Another vote for Thought
NRBY
Toast
Kin at John Lewis
Arket doesn’t suit me but goes to 18
Wyse, Aspiga, Son de Flor, Wrap (all expensive but sales…)

IndoorsyImogen · 27/03/2022 14:17

Amen to that @FridayiminlovewithRobertSmith. I'm always the same size! Even when I do lose or gain a reasonable amount of weight, I tend to stick around a size 16. Not sure why that is. But the plus side to that is that when I buy clothes I can be reasonably sure I won't have to get rid of them as I tend to stay about a size 16.
