Do good period pants exist?

Not the most traditional S&B thread! I love the idea of replacing disposable products but pants don't seem to work for me. I got some fairly cheap ones which I found a bit uncomfortable around the leg, and then some stupidly expensive ones from modibodi which leaked. Do good ones exist? Feel like I've wasted so much money on a failed experiment

I have had mixed success with modibodi some styles fit beautifully and some are horrible. I got some of the recycled fabric ones that are supposed to be amazing and I absolutely hate them. Gape on all the wrong places and I bled through them even though are supposed to be super absorbant overnight ones. I've some shortie style that are great though.

Cheeky wipes one are good but can be a bit plastic feeling and I found got a bit wiffy. Great for nights though as the padding goes all the way up the back, never had a nighttime leak in those and I can flood with the best of them. Have just binned my cheeky pants after several years use as they've given up the ghost and the waterproof bit is no longer waterproof.

Wukka and flux both good but nothing amazing about them.

I've got some bamboo house ones which I like. Comfy, nice wide crotch, not sweaty. Good workhorse. I wear those most of the time.

I’ve not found any that don’t leak. Wuka heavy ones are the best so far but even those don’t get through the day on days 1-3 for me. Cheeky wipes I just bled straight through. I’ve gone back to reusable pads: I don’t know why you’d use pants that are so much more faff to change when pads are so much easier. I don’t want to be wearing the same pad all day on my heavy days (to be fair, I do get heavy periods) so I don’t really want to be wearing the same period pants all day either.

My absolute go to for pads are fairy hammocks from Wee Notions, but they are a little bulky so I wear them at night, at home, or under skirts. But they are completely leakproof, very comfortable, and are apparently indestructible (some I’ve had for years and thrown in the dryer and they’re still fine). Fern pads are much thinner and more discreet so I wear those under trousers, though disappointingly I did bleed through one recently which makes me wonder about the quality of the waterproof backing. TCS Eco is the other place I’ve found that does thin but absorbent pads.

I have loads of Primark ones which work really well. I also use cloth pads from Precious Stars or Comfy Monthlies.

Wuka currently have 50% off for a really short time - literally 8.30 til 9.30 tonight I think.

I have found the cheeky wipes high leg ones are superb at £12.50 as are Hey Girls, the ones with the mesh sides are really good. Both are leak free. I’d give Flowerette a miss tho not absorbent.

itsasmallworldafterall · 26/03/2022 21:34

I have had no issues with Primark ones, been using for over a year now. Very impressed by them and go through the washing machine and tumble dryer no problem.

Modibodi

Beforetheflood thanks for the heads up about wuka, I just ordered a pair - have been using them for a few years).

Stonex · 26/03/2022 21:53

I’ve tried lots of brands and find the M&S ones the best in terms of effectiveness, comfort, & cost.

RAINSh0wers · 26/03/2022 22:03

I just ordered two pairs of the Wuka ones with 50% off. I’m not sure I’m organised enough to wear them for my full period but I’m planning on trying them overnight to start with.

WowStarsWow · 27/03/2022 10:56

Well I’d avoid M&S after seeing this thread - rather not give money to a company who are ok with this sort of stuff:
