Beginners skincare for my late 20’s - do I start with retinol?

I’ve recently turned 27 and want to add something into my skincare routine to reduce signs of ageing. My thought process is better to start now than 20 years down the line.

My current routine is using a simple facewash to remove makeup if I’m wearing any, then the full LE hot cloth cleanser routine - but I am going to swap to the Superdrug dupe to save money - then apply SPF (struggled to find one that doesn’t feel greasy/leave a cast but the BGS kids factor 50 has been brilliant!). Should I add retinol? Or something else? And at what stage?

My skin is fair and combination, I get spots when I’ve been overindulging (not a big drinker but my birthday has meant going out for more meals and drinking more than the occasional one) and have patches of psoriasis that flare up on my face in the winter. I’ve got a nearly 2 year old who’s never been the best sleeper so I know it’s doing my appearance no favours! Other lifestyle factors - I try to drink 1.5L of water a day and exercise regularly with at least one good walk a day and a few low intensity workouts a week. Although, I drink tea and coffee and I’m not the strictest with my diet. I say this as I know it’s not all about what you put on, but having an overall healthy lifestyle.

What would you guys recommend? I’m not very good at this sort of thing and get overwhelmed by the amount of products out there!

Yes, and a vitamin C serum in the morning.
You only "need" 5 products (Nadine Baggott taught me that- follow her insta, she's brilliant and won't make you use 546 products and need a mortgage. She's as likely to recommend Superdrug as Skinceuticals.

Cleanser- which you already do
Vit C serum (anti-oxident, anti pollutant, adds glow, I notice more when I don't use a vit C than anything else)
Hydrate
SPF

In the evening, use a retinol instead of vit C.

If you want to also add an acid toner (they have replaced those dreadful scrubs we all used to take the top layer of our faces off with) they gently exfoliate. A BHA if you're prone to breakouts, an AHA if you're more dry.
