I am going on holiday soon delayed from the past few years due to covid, so circumstances have changed and don't have a budget to buy anything. I just need a couple of dresses for dinner ( won't be fancy as have small children) . I literally own 3 tops and 2 pairs of shorts, so nothing for evenings that fits. So need a cheap solution so was wondering about this site ? Anyone used it ?

yeah ive used it, and its fine, its usually ex high street stuff old season that they dont tell you the brand

JudgeRindersMinder · 26/03/2022 08:02

I think you can get some decent enough brands on it, but have you considered Vinted? I’m on a weight loss journey (sorry that sounds a but wanky) and am topping up my wardrobe from there-this week’s bargain was a brand new denim jacket for £2!

BobblyBlueJumper · 26/03/2022 08:05

Yeah I've used it too.

I'd say 50:50 trash to decent stuff ratio.

You just have to be careful what you buy. Avoid the shoes. The description will tell you what the clothes are made of. I've had good results searching for wool/cotton etc. I actually have two rib knit dresses that are a winter work staple for me that came from there that I think are m&s (they cut the labels out). Must be 5 years old now.

Footballsundays6777 · 26/03/2022 08:06

I’d have a look at SHEIN, I picked up some gorgeous dresses for holiday and for nights out for around £10/11.

I have bought from everything 5 but I found a lot was ex primark and there sizing is just weird

blockbustervideo · 26/03/2022 08:12

Yuck. Clothes made in sweatshops? No thanks.

If you're on a budget can't you find some lovely quality pieces second hand? Vinted, eBay...

Hooveslikejagger · 26/03/2022 08:14

I’ve 2 friends who absolutely swear by it and buy regularly, they have been buying from there for some time and now seem to beable to work out the tat from the decent stuff.

I lost interest at the lack of filtering on the site as there was too much to wade through.

@Footballsundays6777 - how long does the shein stuff take to arrive.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 26/03/2022 08:18

Have a look at mountain warehouse, their dresses aren't outdoorsy at all, hard wearing and perfect for running around after LO, they often have a sale on with dresses under £10

That’s the LAST place I’d have thought of looking, but having had a quick glance, they have some really lovely stuff! Thank you!
Bagelsandbrie · 26/03/2022 08:29

Dd buys a lot of stuff from there and it’s pretty good. But you can find some super cheap stuff on Asos too in their sale section so worth having a look there too.

CaMePlaitPas · 26/03/2022 08:37

I do all of my clothes shopping on Vinted now. I am an absolute convert. You can select "brand new with tags" or "brand new without tags". There are so many things up that are still in the shops. I'd prefer to shop Vinted over Shein any time!

RubertRoo · 26/03/2022 08:40

Yes definitely Vinted. Great prices!
I ordered some jeans from Everything £5 and I'm sure they dragged them all over the warehouse floor before sending them out. They came filthy and covered in dust and dirt. I'll never order again from them

maisiemoolou · 26/03/2022 08:53

I've used E5P loads over the years. I've had some really good things and a few awful things. I've had lots of pairs of shoes from them. I love my heels and as I'm heavy footed I tend to ruin them pretty easily! So if I ruin the heel after a couple of wears I'm not too fussed. I think now I've been using them for so long, I can also work out the good from the bad. As other posters have said a lot is ex high street etc.

Cedarfire · 26/03/2022 09:04

I would spend a couple of hours going around the local charity shops first, aside from the environment benefit you will probably spend less and you can try everything on before you buy. I’ve never tried E5P so can’t compare though!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/03/2022 09:09

I have a friend who always looks amazing and gets a lot of stuff from there. Some bits she has passed on to me because they were too big on her, and I found them very good.

The problem is sorting through the millions of garments on the site to find the ones that aren't horrible. I just can't be arsed, but it certainly is a legit company with some excellent bargains.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/03/2022 09:13

Have a look at mountain warehouse

Yes! I got a great summer skirt from there for £10 this week. The only thing is it was listed as 100% cotton and in fact is 100% polyester, but as it's a floaty summer skirt I don't mind. There are always 20% off voucher codes too.

Creamcrackersandricecakes · 26/03/2022 09:17

Definitely eBay - decent stuff goes for less than you'd think. I sold a Paul Smith summer dress on there last week, excellent condition, went for £10. (Obviously check the seller's feedback carefully before bidding).

satelliteheart · 26/03/2022 09:17

I use everything £5 loads, some of the stuff is trash but mostly it's pretty good. You can occasionally get some really good brands and a lot are high street end of line stuff. Check the material and steer clear of the polyester stuff. Also sizing can be a bit off but is mostly ok. I would say 1 in 5 things I buy ends up going straight to the charity shop

Footballsundays6777 · 26/03/2022 09:28

@Hooveslikejagger about a week for most things to come,it comes from a warehouse in Europe but you can pay for faster delivery

whosaidtha · 26/03/2022 09:30

I love it. Almost everything is ex high street so You get asos or similar labelled stuff. Also got some amazing sandals that still had the rrp sticker -£35 for £5!
Sizing is the main issue as obviously their business model is buying left over stock from loads of different shops and you know how different shops have different sizes.
I don't think it's as bad for the environment as people on this thread are saying because it's all stuff that's already been made so actually is better someone buys it than it goes straight to landfill. And it's no more likely to be from a sweat shop as asos/top shop etc anyway.

Molecule · 26/03/2022 10:05

Thank you for the Mountain Warehouse tip, just bought a few dresses from there, and OUTDOORS15 gives a further 15% off, including the sale items.

BodgertheJogger · 26/03/2022 10:29

Another vote for vinted. It's very good and I've got some stuff from there I wouldn't be able to afford otherwise

WowStarsWow · 26/03/2022 10:50

Unless you are buying couture on a regular basis then surely all clothes have already been made when you buy them, so this argument doesn’t stack up. It is people buying stuff that drives demand for more clothes to be made. Second hand is the only way to avoid participating in the cycle.

Don’t get me wrong I do buy new clothes, but I don’t try to kid myself that I’m saving stuff from landfill when I do so!

pawcontrol · 26/03/2022 13:13

I've bought a few dresses on everything 5 . I'll feedback once they arrive, I'm tall so can be tricky.
I had a look at mountain warehouse and the lengths were probably less risky, but I could only find size 8 for the cheaper ones. I need a 14.

Thanks! I’m going to order some bits.
I was concerned it takes months to actually arrive.
