I've been looking a safety chains and I keep coming across the setup in the top left hand corner. Can anyone explain it to me?

Thanks in advance.

Have you attached the right picture? It's just a chain between two beads on a charm bracelet

That type of safety chain (used in necklaces or bracelets) attaches to the link next to the clasps (left side and right side). Should the clap fail the safety holds the piece together (although looser) but prevents a necklace from slipping away.

That is a safety chain for a Pandora charm bracelet. It won't work with anything other than that. What exactly are you wanting OP?

Sorry - I wasn't clear. It was late even for me!

It's the strange link on one side that has got me confused.

I think it's to allow the chain to rotate freely as you thread it onto the bracelet.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 27/03/2022 20:21

I've looked at the listing on Amazon, and it just seems to be an odd design feature. Nothing seems to be shown on the listing where that bit does anything different to other ones where both fittings are the same.

fallfallfall · 27/03/2022 20:43

It just allows it to rotate.

bare · 27/03/2022 20:48

So you put one hoop on one side of the clasp and one on the other side - if the clasp breakers the chain should stop the bracelet completely falling off ?

Binglebong · 27/03/2022 21:03

That's right Bare, it's just a better chance of not falling off completely.

Rotating makes perfect sense - I feel idiotic! Thank you!

It works well for necklaces that hang down and will stay on your neck, vs slipping to the ground.
