Philips Lumea - which model?

I've finally decided I want to get a Lumea to try and sort my hairy body out once and for all - but I am not sure which model to go for.

I can get the cheapest Lumea (basic model, corded, one attachment) for £250 at John Lewis.

Or I could buy the top of the range new model (cordless, with four attachments designed for different body parts) for £459.

It says that a lower legs treatment will take 15 mins on the cheaper one vs. 8.5mins on the expensive one.

Then are are other models around the halfway price point c£350 with a middling number of attachments.

It's a huge cost difference! If you have a cheaper one are you happy with it? Or do you wish you'd waited and gone for the top of the range? Please help me decide what do to before summer is here!

Me too! Sorry to crash your thread, but I'd love to know this too

Don't go for cordless! It's not a time saving. As they use so much power that they will need to recharge often. Go for one with a power cord and lots of flashes on the bulb. Bigger the bulb the better as well.

Takes ages but it does work. You need a white eye pencil too, to draw a line so you can stick to the line.

I got the cheaper one to do my legs. It takes about 30 to 40 minutes to do them both, but it is working well and im happy with it. I couldn't justify the extra expense, and i don't regret it.

So perhaps the midprice one is the one to get? Corded with extra attachments and a faster lamp. I agree that charging is a faff. DP's hair and beard trimmer is cordless and sometimes runs out halfway through a cut!

I'v got the cordless one with the different attachments. I never use any of the attachments and the only time I unplug it is to take it over to my mirror and zap my face which I could easily just find a hand mirror and do.

I'm not sure about the expensive one being faster - I'm guessing they mean the press and slide function (rather than pressing the button for each flash you can hold it and it automatically flashes every three seconds or so). That function only seems to work properly on level 3 and under - I always have mine right up on 5 anyway and then it's so slow to auto flash I might as well just press the button. I wouldn't say press and slide is worth paying extra for although I suppose it could save you a little time.

It's genuinely one of my best purchases - if you can get it soon so you reap the benefits over summer!

I have the more expensive cordless one and although I don’t use it cordless much, I do use all the different attachments. I’ve had it a year now, and I’m kicking myself I didn’t buy it sooner. It’s amazing and worth every penny. I do several areas, each with the different attachments. For the small face one, I use that on my upper lip, around my eyebrows when I’ve had them threaded, my hands/fingers and toes. Bikini/underarm I use for those areas and legs just the legs. I have suffered thick super fast growing black hair, with in grown hairs, kp, strawberry legs (red dots all over my legs from the pores) all my life. Finally, these things are either gone, or almost gone and I wish I had bought one years ago. All the time I spent waxing, epilating shaving, I could have bought this. Honestly the best £400 odd I’ve ever spent!
