Feel like my feet get grubby in normal sandals

What do people wear on their feet during the summer and manage to avoid getting their feet dirty/feeling vulnerable? I seem to be becoming more aware that in usual sandals and flip flops my feet get dirty, could easily be injured and I just don't like it. Last summer I wore sneakers pretty much the whole time. Do I need to go for platform sandals to get my feet up and off the floor. Anyone else weird like me?

I wear DM sandals, they have a really thick sole and I don't ever notice my feet getting dirty in them

I'm thinking thick soles are the answer here

Totally agree. Gone are the days when I lived in flip flops whenever possible and loved it, for the reasons you mentioned. How about FitFlop sandals? I got a great pair many years ago and feel much "safer" wearing them and they're so comfortable. Often available on sale at a large discount, too. Luckily my ones were just a few quid in a charity shop and in excellent condition. Happy Summer whatever you choose!

I almost never wear sandals really
Around my home or the homes of others is one thing

Public transport - no way

If I am just pottering locally I wear a sort of canvas summer shoe sometimes, but I live in London and the streets aren't clean or glass free enough for me to feel comfy in sandals.

I'm a born & raised Londoner & never had an issue wearing sandals.

Birkenstock, they have a rim round the sole that protects your feet from stubbing your toe etc and also minimises the debris that gets in.
