Tell me about Botox?

I'm 38, never considered any sort of 'intervention' at all, despite a few friends extolling the virtues of Botox.

This week I had a make up trial done for my wedding in the summer and all I can see in photos is the lines on my forehead, as shown below. Probably because the make up is heavier than I'd usually wear, but still. They don't usually bother me at all but for the wedding I'd like to look my absolute best.

Would a bit of Botox smooth these out? Would I need to keep it up afterwards forever or just have it once and then revert back to 'nature' afterwards? What are the risks?

I'd rather not ask the friends as in the past I've been quite vocally against clinical intervention Blush

Thanks!

Hopping on this thread, has anyone got a recommendation for someone in Greater Manchester/north Cheshire area?

I got a sort of fringe to hide it. A friend has it and wished she never started it due to cost

@musicalfrog Botox (Allergen Brand) doesn't contain eggs.
It's stabilised by human albumen so is vegan, but does carry an increased risk of allergic reaction if you have egg allergy.
It will have undergone animal testing tho.

I got Botox done in September as I had horrible forehead frown lines thanks to a stressful two years. I’m older than you and it worked brilliantly for them and forehead lines. No one noticed, but people stopped telling me I looked shattered 🤣 It’s great. I too always said I’d never do it…

WouldBeGood · 17/05/2022 22:44

Also, I was going to get it done again, but actually it’s looking ok still 🤷🏻‍♀️

Good result. The lines haven't gone entirely, but they're barely noticeable. I think a lot of people expect the lines to disappear completely.

I started botox before lines appeared, and haven't developed any. Also just have every six months now.

You could try argireline to complement. I know a few people who use that.

I prefer botox when you leave some lines and ability to frown. It looks very unnatural when you are older and don’t have any lines. It’s supposed to just soften the lines in older people. I am 50.

I'm sort of considering it for my two 11s, but I have a few reservations about getting it on my forehead. The first is that wrinkles don't look very bad in middle age imo, it's more sagging that looks bad. Secondly that it's pretty obvious if someone has no forehead wrinkles, but still has wrinkles everywhere else and thirdly the cost of keeping it up.

Delatron · 21/05/2022 15:36

I think when you’re 45 plus it’s best to use it just to take the edge of the wrinkles. So I leave a few horizontal ones on forehead but soften my very strong elevens which dominate my face otherwise. Only other place I have lines is around the eyes so I get these softened so there’s less of them. Think she does a tiny lift to the edge of the eyebrows which seems to make me look more awake, especially in the mornings.

Upkeep is a valid concern - mine wears off at 3.5 month mark and I go to an expensive doctor in London after quite a bit of bad Botox in the past. It’s very hard to get right and is individual for everyone. Some places are too prescriptive.

Also agree that sagging is far more ageing so at some point I’ll stop Botox and start saving for some radio frequency to tighten.

A completely smooth forehead and a saggy lower face is ageing and a dead giveaway of work.

This is why Botox works well in your 30s and less well as you get older. You have to do all the other stuff as well and it all gets very expensive.

This is interesting as many people think the opposite eg I'll get Botox when I'm (more ) middle aged.

That looks great OP, very natural. Enjoy you day!

Off to investigate for myself but worried I can’t have it because of medication I take.
