Money no object glow up - getting married in 3 months

We only booked our wedding a few weeks ago, and are getting married in July. I’m in a really lucky position where I have the time / money to Chuck at this - but I don’t know where to start.

I am 41, 2.5 stone overweight, am usually relatively glam - have my nails and lashes done every 2 weeks. Have hair extensions for thickness and would get a spray tan for an event. I have booked a breast reduction for end of April which will hamper weight loss exercise, but will get rid of my 34HH boobs!

I have a dress but I am not convinced it’s the one, or if I just feel down about myself so I feel crap?

I’m so excited to be marrying my partner, but am dreading the actual wedding part. Where do I start?

Between now and your surgery - exercise and a sensible diet with plenty of protein, if you can build some muscle now it will serve you in good stead. As a fellow possessor of boobs in your range, you probably don't want to be running or jumping much so weight lifting will not bulk you up but will make everything look a bit firmer and more taut, and muscle burns more calories than fat. You might not change shape much or lose any weight but you'll move easier in your own skin and feel more confident just in a few weeks. After your surgery when you can't do much exercise I'd focus entirely on what you're eating.

Talk to the doctors about what you can do when after the surgery.

Look at getting your teeth whitened, certainly cleaned and polished.

A facial every few weeks but not too close to your wedding day.

Good shapewear under your dress to make you stand tall and confident!

I’m phobic about having my teeth touched Envy I was thinking of getting some teeth whitening strips or am open to suggestions for products if people have any? I’ve seen the hygenist, but idea of veneers terrifies me!

Professional hair and makeup makes a massive difference to how you feel in your dress. So does getting a really good seamstress to do any alterations
I really prioritised sleep, exercise and cutting back on alcohol and junk food etc in the run up to my wedding. Even things like walking and yoga will help if you are going to be restricted
I had my teeth whitened with the bleach and trays. The strips are worth trying though

I was going to say get a personal trainer, but in light of your surgery how about getting a dietitian or nutritionist? Most of weight loss (if you’re interested in that) is down to diet anyway and it would work around your surgery better. Hope you have a lovely day!

Laughing at the suggestion that lifting / weight exercises will bulk you up! It really won't. Its so bloody hard for a woman to bulk through muscle gain. Weight lifters have to commit to it as a full time job and don't get anywhere near male levels of muscle and bulk. I lift heavy weights regularly, plus some hardcore calisthenics, and have done for several years. I look what magazines would call 'toned'. It will however slim you down! If you're looking to lose a bit of weight, eat whole foods, nothing processed, and lift weights. It'll transform your body fairly quickly if you're consistent. Caroline Girvan has some good videos on YouTube. And yoga to lengthen, and help give you a good posture which can make you look lbs slimmer with no actual weight loss at all. I'm sure you look lovely just as you are though! No one will be judging your weight. You'll look amazing on the day, and everyone will just be happy to be there celebrating with you, so don't be hard on yourself or put yourself through anything crazy. Congratulations!

I highly recommend these supplements:simonethomaswellness.com/collections/our-product-range (I actually took them for post-partum reasons, but I think they'd probably work a treat for a wedding too). Really helped with hair thickening / skin / energy levels etc x

You sound like you have most if it covered already. But in all honesty, for me the game changer was the thing money can't buy, losing 2 stone. While exercise helps a bit, it's pretty much all about diet. I swapped to plant based whole foods, very little processed or alcohol and I can't tell you the difference in my body, skin and hair. I'd put dresses out of your mind until you've finished tje other things, and see what shape and size you end up with. I've been amazed at the options open to me at my current weight that I'd never have considered before, as I'm a totally different shape.
