Kids with skinny legs and no waist

Cutemob ยท

Anyone solved this problem? My children are sge 5/6, normal height and leg length I think, but are on the skinny side and have tiny bums and waists, think they would fit nicely into age 3/4 knickers.
Trousers, leggings and jeggings/jeans are always either falling down constantly or fit their bum but length is distinctly half-mast and they look like street urchins ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ
H&M seem to do some skinnier than average jeggings, and maybe Zara. Any other ideas where to shop please? I dont get to the high street much so have been shopping in supermarkets for them and they are particularly abysmal for this problem.

I used to get these years ago for my skinny boy - quick google and they still apparently do! The button on inside of waistband brings them in smaller round waist. Thatโ€™s just an example of what to look for - cheaper blue denim in sale.

Canโ€™t get link to work properly, but click on the waist part and you will see what I mean.

My DS is like this. Heโ€™s 5 and needs a 4-5 leg but more like a 3-4 waist. A lot of Next jeans have the little buttons in the waistband to pull them in, and M&S are my go to for his school trousers

My ds had Zara coloured jeans via ebay at that age.

Slim fit with adjustable waist.

A lot of John Lewis trousers have adjustable waists. For a long time, Boden sold the only jeans and leggings that fit my DD, but she's branching out a bit now. The fashion for skinny jeans fading has helped. She has a pair of Gant jeans I bought in the sale in desperation - I would never spend that much normally - but they fit like a glove.

Joggers for school are the things I find most difficult. Even a functional draw string doesn't pull in enough to stop them falling down.

DD is a teenager and still wears adjustable waist trousers. GAP for jeans, Marks, JL and Next for school trousers. Next has slim fit slim leg trousers which really suit that shape. When she was little, Polarn O. Pyret did adjustable waist leggings, expensive but good second hand market.

DS2 has solved that problem by rejecting trousers. He lives in shorts.
H&M were our best bet for DS1.

H&M girls leggings with adjustable waists
M&S do boys jeans with adjustable waists

John Lewis has been quite good for our skinny 5-year-old boy - or the occasional item in M&S - as long as it has a proper drawstring waist (not the 'fashion' version that doesn't do anything). Or as others have said, adjustable jeans or trousers.

My 5yo DD is the same. I find itโ€™s quite hit and miss with things like leggings as the sizing even within one shop is totally variable.

Vertbaudet do trousers with three different waist fittings, they may be worth a try. Being French the sizes still come up small, so I would probably size up but with the smallest waist fit IYSWIM.

I came on to say H&M as this was DS1. Also Primark. Their jeans and chinos are way better made than you might expect and often cut for very skinny bodies.

Tesco tend to be slimmer fitting in kids clothes.

M&S, John Lewis, Frugi, Boden all do trousers with adjustable waists but I also find joggers from Sainsburys are a good fit.

H&M are a good fit for my long legged, slim 7 year old. The adjustable waist ones particularly.

Yes, I second Vertbaudet - they've for great trousers and come in three fits. Think they're something like 'normal', 'husky' and 'slim' perhaps not those exact terms. I can't remember. But I've bought clothes from them before for your exact reason OP.

Another vote for Vertbaudet. Excellent for very slim children

Ha! I gave up. Spent a fortune on various leggings for DD but she will only wear one pair that are about 3 ins away from her ankles but the waist fits perfectly. I just find it easier to wash the one pair often and try not to look at her when she has them on. Grin

Next fit my skinny boy better than most. They do different fit jeans but they all have the same waist size but thye do have adjustable waist. There slim fit school trousers fit amazingly well.

But one thing id love is slim fit pj's i hate having to faff about adjusting the waist

I found advice on here to get M&S extra long trousers and go down a size. Wish I'd found that advice sooner as DSs school trousers used to leave marks where we had to pull the elastic in to stop them falling down.

Also good are Primark and Next.

DS is 16 and grown out of the kids slim trousers so now we are facing this problem again. I'm trying to feed him up as not found any adult size jeans his shape!

@Dinoteeth not had them for a while but I've always found Boden PJs best for my slim DC. M&S do the same long john style too

Joules leggings were the only ones my daughter would wear at that age, everything else was too big on the waist or too short in the leg.
