Natural hair colour query

I've been dying my hair for over a decade and haven't seen it natural in a loooong time. I've tried lots of different colours too. I now want to grow it out. Do I just stop dying it completely? Will my natural colour come out or will the colours before come through?

Anyone?

I am not sure if I've understood you correctly- but if what you mean is, will you continue to see the effects of dye on new growth, the answer is 'no'. I let mine grow out over lockdown but in my case the colour was similar to my own to cover a few grey hairs. If there's a big difference between your natural colour and what you currently have then it might be best to see a colourist to see if they can blend it as it grows in? That or a short haircut! Good luck.

To be honest when it's grown out a bit you'll end up with a bayalage type effect.

@GettingStuffed English please?

I think the English was fine, though your own post isn't that clear in fairness OP.

Growing out your hair and not dying it anymore will mean that whatever your natural colour now is will start to grow out from the roots, it would take a while to grow this out for a full head of hair. How obvious it looks will ultimately depend on what your natural colour is relative to what colour you have been dying it, the length of your hair and what type of dye you have been using.

You could always go to a hairdresser and ask them to strip the dye out professionally and go from there. Everything else will take time and a transition period with your roots growing if done at home.
