Can I really not have curtain bangs/fringe?

Hi,

My hairdresser says it's a bad idea Sad I have been toying with the idea for a while now, but have been nervous about taking the plunge. I don't like change Confused

Anyway, I asked my hairdresser the other day and assumed tbh that she'd just say yes, why not give it a go, but straight away she said NO. Apparently because my hair has a natural wave/curl, it will just bounce up, but I don't leave my hair to dry naturally, ever, so I can't really see why that would be an issue

One of the reasons I wanted curtain bangs is because my hairline is receding a bit and I'm definitely thinner on top, so it can look a bit flat. I was hoping this would give me a bit of lift and hide my receding hairline and increasing forehead, but think she was saying something about my being thinner on top being a problem for any kind of fringe 🤷‍♀️

I really am starting to dislike what I see in the mirror these days and thought this could give me a little boost, but maybe not. Saying that, I remember another hairdresser from a couple of years ago strongly suggesting I had one and I wouldn't say my hair is any different now. She did have a lot of experience, but then I kind of see my current hairdressers point.

FWI I'm 37, long dark, thickish hair, with a caramel balayage. Face shape is oval, but with cheeks and quite a narrow, but high forehead, so need balancing out.

Thoughts please. Really need a refresh.

I have curly hair and a very curly fringe. It changes from day to day and in fact often from hour to hour. Sometimes bits stick forwards, sometimes it makes a couple of big curls and parts itself randomly.

I didn't know that any of this is against the rules or that the only fringe allowed needs to be an utterly straightened one. All of my fringe's vagueries are better than my otherwise exposed mega high forehead.

It’s common for hairdressers not to cut curly hair into fringe ime. I cut my own, cut each curl separately when it’s dry. It’s curly so it boings all over the place, I never blow dry my hair though.

I have a huge forehead and thin hair on top and getting a fringe has changed my life! Honestly I'd rather have a fringe with not as much hair in my ponytail because it flatters the face so much. I regret not getting one years ago. I cut it myself because I've never had a cut I've loved from a hairdresser. You do need to style it but it takes 2 mins.

Have you considered a hair topper with fringe? I bought one from amazon recently because I have a high forehead and thin wispy hair towards the front.

I'm a long time fringe haver...I have wavy hair but I blow dry it so my fringe is always neat, if it kinks overnight I give it a spray in the morning and a quick blast with the hair dryer, done in 30 seconds.
