Should men tuck their shirts in?

Well, just that. In the last couple of years I've realised, with a shock, that no man under the age of sixty wears his shirt tucked in unless he's wearing a jacket and tie.

What is the consensus here? Do men look better with shirts tucked in or does that look geriatric now?

In general the trend is for slimmer/ muscle fit shirts which are much less baggy than the type worn in the past. There is much less need and comfort in tucking in a tighter fit shirt.

I suspect its because many men still think they can fit into a, say, 36 inch waist and there's either not enough room to tuck a shirt in, or it shows a huge tummy bulge.

My husband does and he's 40! He always has though.
All golfers do anyway 😂

Depends on the shirt, depends on the man

Depends on the outfit, the shape of the individual, how the shirt is cut / styled - how is the bottom of the shirt cut / shaped and the individual's preference. Hubster hates shirts that hang, unless in holiday mode!

Most modern casual and smart-casual shirts seem to be cut to be worn untucked, so they should be untucked. They also shouldn't be buttoned right up to the top.
An "office shirt" (probably thin blue or white cotton, likely with thin stripes) with longer tails shouldn't be untucked imo, as that is supposed to be worn under a jacket tucked in as semi-formal wear and looks a bit scruffy hanging loose.

My husband tries to wear his shirt outside but he's only 5'8" and can't always pull it off. I also think its because he hates anything fitted - says its uncomfortable to wear it like that Smile. I think the untucked shirt looks really good on a tall man but not so much on a shorter guy - just my opinion based on my husband's dress sense (or lack of it) Smile
