I'm wearing a dress very similar to this to a wedding with heels, the skirt on top is quite long and I think it's supposed to just touch the floor. I am going to be carrying DD 14mo around with me and I am going to need to scoop up the top skirt when I walk to stop it from getting mucky and I would also worry about tripping over in it as I'm not used to wearing heels anymore.

At one point we need to walk from the cottage we're staying in outside to where the reception is being held.

My mum suggested getting some kind of clip to hold it up when I'm carry DD but I wanted to know if anyone here has any ideas?

What about getting it shorted to below the knee/midi length OP? I don't think it would be as bridesmaid-like then.

The bridesmaids dresses I had for my wedding where beaded at the top with a full length tulle skirt, after my wedding one of my BMs got hers shortened and wore it to another event.

Hope you get something sorted out 💖

It's not that it looks like a bridesmaid's dress as it's a ball gown/ red carpet dress.

If it's shortened it'll look like something from a corps de ballet.

Op do you know any other guests going to the wedding that you could ask what they are wearing? I went to a winter wedding and loads of the guests were wearing similar to your style of dress. But the summer ones I've been to have been more of the style other people are suggesting. I think it depends on the bride/groom to be honest what the guest style is like

Op I love the dress you have ordered. Yes it's on the dressier side but I don't think it's a write off. I would shorten it so that it's not floor length - just above ankle and then if you chuck a pashmina /cardigan with it, it instantly becomes more casual.

I've found a second hand dress from monsoon, it's maxi and a pale floral colour and pretty I think it should be ok
