Used to use Clinique three step in my 20s then kids and a new house put a strain on my financial budget and time. Now feeling extra bad about my skin care routine that is a baby wipe and a bit of hand cream if it is very cold

Am getting them as birthday presents so money isn't a big issue, am now 35 with "normal" skin type, some fine lines under my eyes that are starting to worry me , can be a bit sensitive to harsh ingredients.

Any ideas where to go (am close to Trafford Centre and Manchester City Centre) and what to try.

Thanks

Clarins

millie1 · 04/01/2008 22:17

I like Liz Earle cleanse & polish (as recommended on here) or for a cream cleanser, love Lancome.

bagpuss · 04/01/2008 22:19

Curly, I used to use Clinique up until recently (when I realised how much it would cost to replace ) but have recently started to use Lush cleanser, toner and moisturiser. It is about half the cost of clinique and doesn't feel as chemical-ly on my skin. I am very happy with it and can particularly recommend Fresh Farmacy cleanser which is very good for sensitive skin. I also have their eye cream which so far is doing the job as well as All About Eyes did.

Mother Earth stuff is organic, smells delicious, feels like silk on your skin and tho a little pricey you can order online and a little goes a long long way - www.motherearth.co.uk

Thanks for all the ideas, stupidly posted just before I had to go out to work but will spend tomorrow afternoon having a good look

Like the idea of buying from the internet so I don't have to face up to my skin care crimes at a counter but would also like to have a quick try of stuff before I buy, hard too please, thats me!

Forgot to say, but hoxtonchick just reminded me, I use ds2's old muslins as face cloths and they are very good for cleaning the skin. Think I got that tip from mn actually...

those youngest children of ours drive us to it bagpuss .

I didn't like Liz Earle stuff, it felt too oily for my skin. I like the Eve Lom rip off in Boots by Time Delay, you take it off with a muslin. Its £12 as opposed to £40!!

Diege · 05/01/2008 10:29

Another vote here for Eve Lom (and thanks for the baby muslin tip!) I ask for it for Xmas and brithdays, and agree it last an age. My second best after Eve Lom is Lush's Ultrabland - a similar sort of get up, much cheaper, and very effective

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/01/2008 10:31

I use the LIz Earle range. It is the only thing that seems to suit my skin.

There are a couple of shops in London who sell it, but it is mail order.

curlywurlycremeegg · 06/01/2008 20:42

Have been having a nosy round the recommendations and like the look of Burts Bees, also Clarins seems to rate highly with many of you. Have tried the Boots time delay before and found it a but "greasy" for my skin, however I like the idea of these. Those of you who use the Eve Lom and Liz Earle, do you use a moisturiser after or do you find they mousturise your skin enough? Know it's a personal thing but not sure if the product is made to be a cleanser/mousturiser. Thanks

Clinique 3-step on a budget:

  1. Don't bother with step 1
  2. Water down toner, one part toner to 4 parts water - works well as cleanser/freshner and less harsh than the original
  3. Moisturise as normal

Liz Earle cleanse and polish, fab plus its bunny/eco friendly...

lilolilmanchester · 06/01/2008 21:10

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish for me too (never found it oily at all Maidamess) closely followed by VirginVie.

MerryPIFFLEmas · 06/01/2008 21:12

Adore Eve Lom, and philosophy do an excellent one as well

pattymc · 06/01/2008 21:13

liz earle gets my vote too, used to use clarins and that's also great but not natural like liz
