Looking for an amazing Shampoo & Conditioner

I always used Wella colour brilliance shampoo and conditioner... until they changed the formula a couple of years ago. Since then I've tried numerous brands and can't find anything that leaves my hair feeling as smooth and healthy as the old wella formula. Any recommendations please?

I started using Keune shampoo and conditioner on hairdresser's recommendation - I was sceptical as it is expensive but my hair was really dull. It has transformed my hair and I highly recommend. I can leave several days between washes now rather than needing to wash daily, so actually it lasts quite a long time. I think all the varieties are good, I use moisturising or colour care. You can get it on amazon.

MsSquiz · 12/03/2022 08:28

I started using L'Oreal dream lengths shampoo, conditioner/wonder water & the serum and it makes a noticeable difference to my hair on the days I use it. I think they also do a coloured hair version now, but I'm yet to try it.

I also use Olaplex once or twice a week (4, 5, & 6) but at £25 a bottle it's a lot of money and I know many people on here don't rate it

Frostyhighlights · 12/03/2022 08:28

The coconut shampoo in the white bottle from OGX and the Brazilian keratin conditioner from the same brand. I buy both on repeat now.

Girlintheframe · 12/03/2022 08:38

I really rate then Briogeo range

StarlightLady · 12/03/2022 09:52

Buying small bottles and changing brands regularly suits my hair. If l use the same brand regularly it starts to get stroppy with me and revolts.

Rachaelrachael · 12/03/2022 11:13

Thanks everyone for your recommendations! I'll definitely ordering some of these to try Smile

Ideally you could describe what type of hair you have, and recommendations could come from people with the same type of hair.

cherrypiepie · 12/03/2022 11:19

I've just tried Kristen Ess 'the one' shampoo and conditioner from boots and like that but still don't think it's the holy grail. But it's three for two so works out at 5.50 a bottle. And it smell amazing and is sulphate free.

Rachaelrachael · 12/03/2022 11:48

@KalaniM My hair is coloured (blonde) so quite dry on the ends but also gets greasy at the root. It's quite thick and takes forever to get the knots out after washing so looking for something that makes my hair nice and smooth Smile

The best detangler I’ve used is Shue Uemura Essence Absolue, it’s an after shampoo leave- in. I think it would work for you.

In terms of shampoo and conditioner, my favourite all round is Hass argan oil for both.

I have tangly dry hair. The greasy root means you need to rinse with cold water , wash your scalp /roots twice, but the ends just once. And use dry shampoo to go longer between washes.

ElephantLover · 12/03/2022 14:34

My favourite is the Davines range. Pricey but so worth it.

I've been using the L'Oreal Elvive wonder water since someone recommended it on here and I've been really pleased with the results. I didn't realise they did shampoo and conditioner in the same range - will give it a go, thank you!
MsSquiz · 12/03/2022 21:51

@RockingMyFiftiesNot this is the range that I have. Obviously I don't use them all at the same time, but they've definitely made my hair shinier and smoother

I use Pureology shampoo and conditioner - it's not cheap but a little goes a long way and a bottle lasts me ages despite my hair being long and thick.

I also like Wonder Water, and since it's xoloured hair I'd recommend Olaplex but not the shampoo/conditioner - I use 0, 3, 6, 7 and 8 (which is the mask) and mine is in pretty good shape considering I decided to balayage it myself a few months ago Grin.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 13/03/2022 00:51

Thank you @MsSquiz , I'll definitely given them a go.

Nomoreusernames1244 · 13/03/2022 01:00

I bought Giovanni for some reason, the 50/50 balancing one. Probably on offer.

Well blow me down if it didn’t make my hair all swishy and shiny. I don’t do a lot with my hair, wash, condition, blast with the dryer. But this was a proper “just stepped out of the salon” job- when I went to pick my teenage dd up her friends all asked if I’d had my hair done. Must have done something special for teenagers to notice!

LunaTheCat · 13/03/2022 07:10

I use kerastase - I love it, is eye wateringly expensive but you nay need a small amount.

Rachaelrachael · 13/03/2022 07:54

Wow thanks so much everyone, I'm going to work my way through this list until I find the one! X

Shu Uemura Art of Hair. Expensive but there is nothing that can compare and it feels like I have tried every product on the market.

Liveliferun · 13/03/2022 10:02

I absolutely love Aveda. Also expensive but I tend to buy it when they have offers on (which is nearly all the time). I also wash my hair a lot less than I used to, which has helped my hair condition massively and also helps me justify using an expensive product when I do wash it. I’ve invested in some good dry shampoo options for the other days, but these aren’t that pricey at all and last for ages. I also do regular hair masks.

Justilou1 · 13/03/2022 10:11

Obviously what you need is entirely dependent on your hair type and texture. I have fine hair and a sensitive scalp. I have just discovered Japanese shampoos & conditioners (including masks) which have totally transformed mine. They’re cheaper and come in giant bottles.

EnoBaby · 13/03/2022 10:15

I use Living Proof’s No Frizz line for wavy, coloured hair of which I have lots.
Shampoo and conditioner, then the nourishing styling cream and oil onto dripping wet hair. Then I can just style how I fancy - air-dry, blow-dry or diffuse - and it’s always left soft, clean and strong.
It’s not cheap but I only wash once or twice a week so goes down fairly slowly. Plus, I’m no longer wasting money chopping and changing products.

@Justilou1 which brand do you use? I also have fine (flyaway!) hair that’s coloured so very dry. Any recommendations would be gratefully received!
floofycroissant · 13/03/2022 23:34

Also would love to know @Justilou1

Shuttheblinds · 14/03/2022 01:09

This was me a few months ago! I love nice shampoo and conditioner. Somebody recommended Oribe to me. It is very expensive be warned. However I have tried every high end shampoo/conditioner and this is absolutely amazing, its on a different level to anything I have ever used.
