I have terrible bags under my eyes. What will help? I don't just want to cover them, I'd rather get rid if that's possible?

I tried the little collagen patches you stick under your eyes but that didn't seem to help

Get a plastic surgeon to remove them. Sadly they are fat deposits. Nothing shifts far except a knife. Unfortunately.

It depends how bad they are I think. I get very puffy eyes if I've had too much salt, alcohol or ot enough sleep. Actually the 3 tend to go hand in hand Confused and I wake up looking like I've had an allergic reaction!

The only thing that helps me is ice. I have an ice roller, which I hold under my eyes for 30 seconds, release and another 30 seconds, sometimes more. If you've crossed the line to full on permanent bags, with no triggers, then really I think surgery is the only route.

Honestly not sure. I had started to worry about mine so saw a surgeon. He explained they were fat deposits. I wasn’t over weight. Just bad luck! I decided not to go ahead. I now weigh a bit more and they haven’t got worse. So I’m not sure what to think. However I do use face creams and try and look after my skin. If yours are really bad I don’t think much works other than getting them removed.

This may be obvious but best to understand what you mean by eye bags.

Some people call eye bags what are essentially circles under the eyes which may be of darker pigment which can make them look hollwed out and tired. These are not be bags (i.e. sticky outy lumps that don't shift no matter what you do) . You can tell I only use the most precise medical jargon Grin.

I had eye bags and saw a variety of beauty-types and cosmetic surgeons. In the end as Tize says, only cosmetic surgery can remove the fatty deposits. I had a lower blepharoplasty, the results of which are subtle (my dh will say non-existent) but I am very pleased with the result as I no longer see the bags. It is one of the lower cost surgical procedures as compared to say a facelift or nose job.

The other type of bag is more puffiness and water retention than bags. This is probably what forever has and you can reduce the puffiness with ice or even haemorrhoid cream. None of those things evert did anything for my bags and so in my case it was fatty deposits that could only be removed surgically

If you have fatty deposits, I think you would mostly be born with it and it is not anything you did or did not do. I am not sure how affected it is by weight. My surgeon did say that some times, the fat could deposit back but it did not happen in my case. He did not mention weight gain just something that could happen over time. My weight is fairly stable.

Try tapping, supposed to help lymphatic drainage.

SallyJAnne · 12/03/2022 01:51

@blueshoes I haven't always had them. They only became quite noticeable recently so maybe mine aren't fatty deposits

Are they puffy? I found a caffeine eye cream worked for that but it doesn't help how dark they are!
