Hi,

I've just got a bit of birthday money recently and could desperately do with some new skincare for my temper mental skin. It's dry, prone to a spot or two around my period and dull. I've tried various things in the past but it's quite sensitive and certain things left it very "tingly" and sore.

I have the goddess clay mask from CT and a little sample of the cream (face cream - I think it's called magic cream)

Do you rate the skincare at all? I would love the go ahead and try it all but it's a lot of money to spend for something that's not gonna work for me - I know unless I just purchase it I won't know.

Any recommendations?

Thank you

I'd get samples before purchasing a larger amount. I personally find it's a massive "style over substance" brand, and I ended up binning a very expensive make up kit because it was awful quality. I've had better Rimmel and didn't resent the price tag on that!

I get on much better with Liz Earle skincare, and I've got really sensitive skin.

Agree with pp that it’s style over substance unfortunately…… I’d be more inclined to spend much less on more basic/ stripped back brands like The Ordinary for skincare, and splash out on amazing makeup essentials like a Dior foundation/ Givenchy mascara.

Or if you have your heart set on spending more on skincare you could try Drunk Elephant, their products are amazing!

Have you tried a vitamin c serum? I also use niacinamide for clarity but if you’ve got sensitive skin it might be a bit harsh for you. Good luck OP, part of the fun is trying it all! X

All fur coat and no knickers.

Prices high to pay for all the advertising.

The Magic Cream is that very thick kind of moisturiser that you have to warm up in your hands before applying, then smooth it in, in the manner of backstage make-up artist 'prepping' a model in between runway looks. It's good and quite heavy duty but you are paying A LOT for what's actually a smallish pot of cream housed in a massive crystal pot nicked from Joan Collins' dressing table.

I’d use CT for cosmetics, not skincare - she doesn’t have any science creds. I’d have a look at Caroline Hirons’ site if I were you as she has lot of great tips - but Dr Sam Bunting’s range is really good

No the skin care's not worth it. If you did want to try anything get the smallest pot of the magic cream, it's ok and I can skip primer when I use it but I'd rather spend the money on something else.

CowsAreNotGreen · 11/03/2022 06:34

If you have sensitive skin I'd avoid most of it as its quite smelly. Try vichy or avene instead.

I really rate Strivectin skincare, if you sign up to their text alerts they send regular offers eg 25% off, so you’ll be able to get a bit more for your money.

You could also have a read of Caroline Hirons’ advice and buy some reasonably-priced versions of active ingredients eg from the Ordinary, Inkey list or Indeed labs (they do a nice gentle retinol) then splash out on something pricey if you’re happy it works well for your skin.
