a couple of people mentioned it on the grooming thread and I've been hankering after getting it done for years now so I'm ready to bite the bullet and book an appointment but can anyone recommend somewhere in London? Preferably North or Central

Ta very much

no, dont think for that long. honestly, as long sa they dont ruin your hair, how bad can it be? and tbh, i dont htink they would ruin your hair as in this country, there would be tooo much liability legally etc.
just take a deep breath, and go for it. thats what i did, and i am sooo pleased withthe results..
fwiw, i also asked about havingit done in saks. which is where i usualy get my hair trimmed from. and occasionally coloured. ive tried the sajna place for a colour as well, and they were also fine. anyways, saks quoted me between 3 and four hundred as well. but they would get someone in from london to do it, as they themselves didnt have anyone qualified t do it. but then i ended up going to pakistan and had it done there, the first time that is. ask at your local big chain places, as they will no doubt be more likely to want to keep your custom.

o, sorry, currently my hair is above bra strap. but just before having it done in october, it was almost, but not quite waist length. i had about five or six inches cut off, as the second time, it really really damaged the ends. and that was how much had to be cut off to maintain halthiness. so yes, i guess i do have long hair.

Thanks again Pukka.. I thought it sort of 'repaired' your hair, bit surprised that it did that much damage [eek]

anyway, I'll stop pestering now and thank you again for all your help and advice

g;night

well, i think the ends were damaged more the second time round because they were the bits that had already been mega done previously .iyswim. once those bits had been chopped off, the rest is in bautiful condition now. but as i said before, i do condition religiously.

FBJ - I was in your position a couple of months ago, i wanted my hair straightened but i didn't know whether to go with Yuko or Ionic straightening.

In the end, i went here.

A stylist called Lisa did my hair and she was brilliant. my hair is so soft and silky now. My hair is short (jaw length) but I am trying to grow it long now as I've never had long hair before as it would grow into a big bushy triangle

I will definitely go back in a couple of months. She recommends at least 4 months before retouching. I can see the kinks starting to come through, especially a stubborn on right at the front but I love it.

Like you, I've got some grey too and in an ideal world, I would like to be able to go a bit lighter but Lisa said "No!" so I've just been using an all over permanent colour same as my own dark brown hair.

BTW, my friend has had the Yuko system and she really likes it too. she goes somewhere in Mayfair. The reason I chose Ionic over Yuko was I was led to believe you could lighten the hair afterwards but it seems no hairdresser wants to risk it!

Good luck with whatever you decide. From talking to Lisa, she didn't think there was an awful lot of difference in the 2 systems.

Sorry to go on! bit long!

thanks pukka, that makes sense

vulgar I'm the same, I just colour it to the same as my own colour more or less

Wieird, that's the site I was looking at yesterday, so it's nice to have another recommendation for something else, doesn't make my decision easier tho, lol

fbj- I also condition my hair a lot - i use Kerastase (sp?) products. I find their hair mask treatment is amazing!

I'm like you, in that when my hair gets greasy, it goes courser and feels really horrible near the roots.

Unfortunately,I am lazy about washing my hair every day!

i think this is because for my whole life, so much time has been spent trying to tame it!
