Best hot cloth cleanser

harriethoyle · 07/03/2022 08:50

I want to go back to hot cloth cleansing, rather than using cotton wool pads and make up remover. Used to use Liz Earle but am trying to economise so any good dupes would be very welcome! I have fairly clear combination skin with a slightly oily T zone.

Thanks!

The Liz Earle is one of my favourites though I have several on rotation.
In all honesty though- cleanser is the last thing you need to spend on, it goes down the plughole in less than a minute. It doesn't sit on your skin or add anything to it. It just gets the muck off. That said, a 200ml LE lasts ages, and if you buy direct from the website there are always offers and free gifts and "luxury sized" samples.
I like LE because I like the texture and the smell. Ditto Clarins.
The nicest cheaper cleanser I've used is Superdrug vit E. It's thick and smells lovely. I don't like the "dupe" of LE (the radiant one) smells very different and I found it made my skin feel tight.
I'm not a massive fan of balms (because you need to double cleanse to get the residue off and I often CBA) but the BS Chamomile one and the Boots Botanics ones mentioned above are nice. I use balms in summer as they melt into skin better when it's warm I find.

Superdrug vitamin E
Boots botanics
The M&S one - can't remember its name

They're all good

CheesePlantMurderer · 08/03/2022 06:44

Thanks for posting I'm about to run out and my skin really doesn't like anything else but I'm going to try lacura..

DameHelena · 08/03/2022 17:29

I like the Superdrug Naturally Radiant one.

UserError012345 · 08/03/2022 17:34

Really surprised that no-one has mentioned Elemis yet. They are really loverly. Scented so it might not be for you but the aromatics are part of the experience.

I am however presuming hot cloth cleansers are the same as cleansing balms ? If not, please ignore.

Findingneeemo · 08/03/2022 17:36

Aldi and Superdrug, both are great.

Cotswoldmama · 08/03/2022 17:48

Another vote for the Aldi one, it's amazing!

245680 Elemis Supersize Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm Serenity 200g www.qvcuk.com/.product.245680.html

QVC have the Elemis cleansing balm as their beauty pick of the month, on easy pay and money back guarantee if you don't like it

CaMePlaitPas · 08/03/2022 18:39

Another vote for No 7

Ponds Cold Cream cleanser and a hot ordinary flannel. Cheap and can’t be bettered

carriedaway · 08/03/2022 18:42

Love the Aldi lacura one. Lasts ages and people often compliment my skin when I’ve used it.

VioletLemon · 08/03/2022 18:44

The Superdrug Vitamin E range is the only products I can use without irritation. Wish I'd known years ago as I've tried lots!

HumousWhereTheHeartIs · 08/03/2022 18:49

I'm really allergic to the Liz Earle cleanser but not the Aldi one

Blondeissimo · 08/03/2022 18:50

Farmacy Green Clean is my favourite. It smells divine! A bit like green opal fruits.

Mindgone · 08/03/2022 18:59

I’m quite new to Beauty Pie Japanfusion cleanser and really love it, my skin is better and clearer than it’s been in a long time. I’ve just bought some more, I use it with a face cloth.

Pootle40 · 08/03/2022 19:04

Asda do a Liz Earle dupe. I also like Burts bees.

Clinique's take the day off balm is brilliant. I wait for the discount codes from ASOS and stock up then.

citygirl1961 · 08/03/2022 23:17

@Luredbyapomegranate

Super drug Vitamin E
What I mean is I think nothing matches Liz Earle. I'm not saying other cleansers aren't good at all. I've looked at the dupe in Superdrug and it doesn't smell as fresh as Liz Earle, there's something about it that just makes your face feel fresh. I have had a small tube since November and its only just starting to run out so it does last a long time.
LaVieEstBelle159 · 08/03/2022 23:47

I agree with @citygirl1961. I've tried many hot cloth and ordinary cleansers and always revert to LE. I do use a Revolutions gel cleanser to remove makeup first. Massage into dry skin, add a tiny amount of water, then I use a flannel to take off. This reduces the amount of LE needed for the double cleanse.

MimosaFields · 09/03/2022 23:41

I find Aldi's one, and the one by ESPA The best

RinklyRomaine · 10/03/2022 03:25

The pineapple and vitamin C versions from Aldi are both excellent. LE makes me super itchy but these don't and really help keep my skin clear. I liked the BS camomile too but used it up so fast, plus they hate women so I can't buy from them. Superdrug radiant is fine for me but brings DD out in a horrible rash so not for the sensitive I think.

crispsarny · 10/03/2022 03:44

Sounds like a lot of people are having an allergic reaction to Liz Earle cleanser. I’m another Aldi Lacura fan, they sometimes do a Emma Hardie balm dupe which is very nice, smells lovely, got a huge 90g pot with a great cloth for £6.99!

They changed the formula years ago, it used to be so gentle and no it makes me want to scratch my face off!
